Well designed game, but it got very old
I bought this game because I heard that Deus Ex series is quite good. I've never played thjs game before, so it has no nostalgic value or stuff like this for me. I actually haven't expected from this game such story. It is quite long and i have to say it's engaging, I wasn't bored playing, progression is good. You even have the influence on how some events will end up with your decisions, and you can finish the game on 3 different ways, so that's actually gread for a game from 2000. Locations are ok, most of the game takes place inside buildings, but they are quite complex and allow you to complete the missions with different styles. You can go rambo mode and shoot everything, you can move silently through vents and avoid enemies, you can hack computers and defences - it's up to you. I won't judge the graphics. I can't demand any breathtaking views from a 21 years old game. But it doesn't look ugly, it's just old. My only issue is that this game is insanely dark. As it is an RPG game, there are some upgrades available in a form of augmentations - nanotechnology that enhances your character. There are a lot of them so you can select wide range of skills which will fit your playstyle, but they are divided in a categories for every limb. And if you select one augmentation from a category, you won't be able to pick another one, so you will have to think what you will need. There is also good range of weapon upgrades, which are very useful. I went for an aggresive playstyle, exterminating everything i could. And I got frustrated with the fighting in this game. It takes long time to aim at something without top tier skills. NPCs run in some weird patterns (looks to me like not the best pathfinding), so you can shoot quickly at them because they are very hard to hit while moving. Hitting something in melee is almost a miracle. Best is to take down enemies from a distance when they don't see you with a headshot. Not a fan. It's good and fun game, but requires patience.
