Deus Ex: Revision a mod which drastically overhauls the FPS/RPG masterpiece while preserving its greatness, is now available for FREE on
GOG.com!
The year is 2052 and the world is a dangerous and chaotic place. Terrorists operate openly - killing thousands; drugs, disease and pollution kill even more. The world's economies are close to collapse and the gap between the insanely wealthy and the desperately poor grows ever wider. Worst of all, an ages old conspiracy bent on world domination has decided that the time is right to emerge from the shadows and take control.

Dunno. Deus Ex has great story, but gampeplay and missions are definetly dated. Here are too much past era frustrating elements that started to go after Half Life 2. Sequels are much better, Even though yes they have problem of too much vents, but at least basic gameplay elements are not frustrasting.
Though I'll give credit for what it did back then. Story and characters are great and memorable.
I've played through this game twice now, and on both occasions I have been emotionally and personally affected; even with an 8 year gap between play sessions. Yes this is a flawed diamond with its own shortcomings. But the depth and strength of the story, the expansive environments, the multiple meaningful choices more than make up for this. This is an intelligent experience, with a great deal of thought, detail and passion used in the crafting.
I haven't ever done a review before, and I may even never do again. I'm not even moved to do a review for the very best of games I play. But this is something else, and just so special and unique that I am compelled to say this:
Play this game, and may it affect your life forever. You won't regret it. :-)
Great to see the brilliant game on here, I have already picked it.
This game is amazing and its one of the games you should play before you die. The story is interesting from the beginning, and keeps the player interested throughout. The musics fits the game perfectly. And of course you decide how to go though the mission. Want to kill everything that moves? Go ahead. Want to sneak around taking people out silently? Go ahead. Want to go through the game killing no one? Go ahead.
I've bought this game from 3 different sources, and I have no regrets. This is one of the best games I have ever played- the awesome storyline, meeting arbitrary characters a few levels after you killed their father (what a shame) and the perennial need for strategy make this my favorite game.
You could go in guns blazing, but you'd probably get slaughtered. Using your resources (BE, health and ammo) well is essential since it's easy to run out of one and end up in a near-death situation.
I never played the game in a run and gun fashion, and I'm not too sure that can even be done, but my stealth based sniper/hacker destroyed pretty much everyone in my way. Of course, sometimes words are more effective than bullets- Sticks and Stones!
Warren Spector, the legend behind this game and other great games like Ultima Underworld, System Shock, Thief: Dark Project, and Wing Commander, had a dream! He believed that a game could immerse you in all of its detail and story, but still let you be the one who drives the story in a direction you want to go. In a sense, the freedom of this game might be what inspired the story-tree games of Bioware. Its graphics are an unfortunate thing of the past, and the voice acting is deplorable at times, but those are often forgotten by the mysterious and secret-filled world of Deus Ex. For those who want to experience the thrill of infiltrating strongholds in ways the game designers didn't plan out for you, or dig through the layers of story carefully woven around you to unveil the conspiracies, this is a game for you! There is an old saying "Everytime you mention Deus Ex, SOMEONE will reinstall it." This is because it is a rich and timeless experience that is always surprising players, even when they have played it a dozen times before. Everyone should play it, but those who haven't shouldn't be ashamed, but rather excited that they can experience for the first time!
