Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition

If You heard about Deus Ex from people saying that it's the best game ever, then all You need to know is that they're right. I can't find words to express how great this game is, so just play it. One thing You perhaps need to be aware of is that, it is a pretty heavy on RPG mechanics so it might take an hour or so to get a grip on all of the gameplay system to fully enjoy the game. That being said once things get going You're in for an experience none of games I have played in my life can match. So just go and play it, it's really worth it

To my shame I tried Deus Ex for the first time only in 2003. Oh, back then I simply couldn't stop playing it, but little did I know back then, that there were options to play this game the way YOU want it to be played. 😎 It would become a tradition to replay this classic once per year, as the game allows you to walk through it in different manners be it a shooter-like one or a stealth adventure. Aside from great story you delve into the the large Deus Ex lore, which set basis for its sequel Deux Ex: Invisible War, as well as the prequels Deux Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. As you progress through the game in any manner you like, it changes your feeling about it at least twice: as you learn more about other characters, explore new locations around the world and meet new enemies – you learn about yourself. And that's where Deus Ex was truly the harbinger of its time – you get a chance to attune both the gameplay with the sidequests and the story of JC Denton to your own preferences and feelings.

10 years ago I tried to play Deus Ex for the first time ... and gave up without finishing liberty island. I couldn't handle the clunky gun play and the outdated graphics, but this year I gave it another shot. And I'm happy i did. On one hand the story is interesting and predicts the whole war on terror and mass surveillance thing before it happend, which goes to show that America was headed down this path sooner or later with or without 911. The story alone makes the game worth playing, but the gameplay is also great! The gun play is terrible and it is almost impossible to hit anything early on, but it does not matter since the enemies are basically deaf and blind. What makes the gameplay great is the level the design which offers are great amount of options for every obstacle you might encounter.

I've played this game through to completion 18 times (and partially countless more) since I purchased it on it's original release date. It has seriously, more or less, completely ruled my life and ruined my perception of just about every other game that has been released since. Honestly, what else can I say about the greatest game to ever grace the PC? Oh yeah: That it holds up unbelievably well and offers an absoluetly massive campaign full of nearly limitless choice, (I'm STILL finding new ways to accomplish things and even new areas after the zillionth time through). Seriously. BUY THIS GAME. Goodbye life. I'd rather be stuck in an air vent in the dystopian near-future.

Still got the Big box edition that I bought on release. It is a true gem.
