The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the Desperados III Season Pass with 3 DLCs, each featuring a brand-new mission. These DLCs will be released post-launch in 2020 and tell the story of a new adventure after the events of the main game. The Digital Deluxe Edition also contains a special extended edition of the Original Soundtrack that features 75 high quality tracks for a total of 150 minutes of music.

Desperados III is a story-driven, hardcore tactical stealth game, set in a ruthless Wild West scenario.

In this long-awaited prequel to the beloved classic Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive, John Cooper will join forces with the runaway bride Kate, the shady hitman Doc McCoy, the giant trapper Hector, and Isabelle, a mysterious lady from New Orleans. On Cooper’s quest for redemption, his adventures lead him and his gang from rural towns, over swamps and riverbanks, and finally to a dramatic showdown worthy of Wild West legends.

Play smart if you want to succeed. A good plan can make the difference between survival and finding yourself at the business end of a pistol.

Drifter, gunslinger, and natural leader Cooper can kill quietly with a knife, or take out multiple foes with his revolvers. Strongman Hector carries a giant bear trap and can slay the toughest opponents with his trusty axe. Cold blooded bounty hunter McCoy likes to be methodical, using lures, knockout gas, poison syringes and a custom long-range pistol. Kate can fool almost any man with the right outfit, and kills discreetly with her hidden gun. And then there is this mysterious woman from New Orleans, Isabelle…

Combine your team’s special skills to overcome each tough challenge in your own style.

  • Play five unique characters, each with a very particular set of skills
  • Experience true freedom of choice with countless different ways to overcome any obstacle
  • Defeat large groups of enemies with careful planning and execution
  • Witness the glory of classic Wild West scenarios like frontier towns, mysterious swamps, sprawling modern cities, and many more
  • Choose between non-lethal and deadly attacks, stealth and blazing guns
  • Adjust the game to your playstyle with various difficulty settings and special replay challenges
  • The Showdown mode allows you to pause the game anytime and react to ambushes or surprise attacks

Great successor to Shadow Tactics

Desperados 3 is the next tactical stealth game from the Shadow Tactics developer Mimimi Games. While D3 is still a great game with many improvements from ST, overall, I find ST more enjoyable. Pros - The stealth gameplay is like solving puzzles and you need to be clever and creative in order to get through the game. - D3 has some QoL upgrades that make the game more convenient to play than ST. Characters will now automatically climb (ladders, vines, etc.) to reach destinations. Fast forward is also a nice feature. - There are more levels and more ways to play than ST. Being able to play all characters in all maps is a very nice addition. - Isabelle's abilities are unique and magical in nature. She can do some interesting things very different from what was possible in ST. Cons - The wild west setting isn't as immersive for a stealth game as ST's ninja setting. - D3 characters are not as enjoyable as ST characters. Aside from Isabelle, all other characters are just weaker imitations from ST. Guns have bigger detection radius than shooting range, which limit their use. AOE options are limited and all require ammo (no more melee AOE takedowns like ST's Mugen). Kate (D3's version of Aiko) does not have melee kills. - Starting with chapter 2, almost all enemies have multiple other enemies that are looking at them, and it takes time to come up with a solution. This can drag things down and make the game a bit repetitive. It would have been better if the game had a good mix of simple enemy placements and complicated enemy placements throughout the level. - While graphically superior to ST, levels aren't appealing since majority of textures are just variations of ugly brown.

Shadow Tactics in the Wild West

...and that's not a bad thing! Mimimi shuffled and adjusted the skills so that the game would not be boring to someone who repeatedly beat Shadow Tactics. You will have to come up with new combo ideas. The game also likes to introduce the challenge by taking away some skills in certain levels (in a proper convincing way). The game was easy for me though so I ended up completing it on Desperados difficulty for the first time (which is slightly harder than Hard in Shadow Tactics). The levels are well-designed and diverse enough, night and day, not only canyons, but also towns and casas. It seemed to me that somehow Shadow Tactics had a notch more appealing graphics, but I liked the levels in Desperados better. The last level and the final puzzle are excellent. Guns (except Doc's sniper rifle) are rather gimmicky in the game, they are loud and this is a stealth game. I hardly used them. Soundtrack is very good, your typical Sergio Leone vibe. Well done, Mimimi, but I still wait for Shadow Tactics 2 ;)

Great Game With a Few Technical Issues

Same as Shadow Tactics, Desperados 3 gives you that good old, long dead, recently revived, rage inducing, neutral NPC murder-spreeing, "scream at your computer"ing Commandos feel. Also for replay value you have certain tasks/challanges to complete and Baron missions that give you more missions to clean up silently. Mechanically it's pretty much the same as ST, you have the game pause (doesn't pause at the hardest difficulty) where you can perform multiple actions at the same time like throw a knife with one guy, snipe with the other, so on and so forth. Good story, good voice acting, good graphics; music wasn't as impressive as ST though but it's ok, I'm happy with generic Western theme. It also has the annoying bits ST has where your isometric angle can cuck your actions. It can effect view cones as well, sometimes it gets really weird as in a guy outside of the view cone can be seen or a guy inside a viewcone doesn't trigger an alarm when killed etc., a good thing game reminds you to quick-save often. The only bad thing I can say is that I'm getting a lot of crashes: I have a decent and pretty new machine but when starting the game or in the middle of a long level or if I play longer than 2 hours it crashes. Unfortunately Desperados 3 is kind of crashy; for now of course, it'd eventually get fixed. If the genre sparks your interest and if you enjoyed Shadow Tactics: Blades of The Shogun you'll get your coin's worth at full price.

Great execution

This is what the genre should be. Fluid gameplay, great levels and enjoyable characters. Modern UI capabilities are so much better for this kind of game. Chaining picking up a body while you're still mid kill animation feels amazing.

Good game with variety

The game is fun to play and requires more precision and skill on the highest level, which is good. Due to the achievements there is also a lot of variety in the levels, since you have to play them several times to accomplish them all. The only downside is the speedrun achievement, where you have to complete a mission within a certain time. The timer keeps running, even if you reload, which means that if you want to load an earlier savegame and do something else, you'll very likely not make the speedrun anymore, so you have to start all over again from the beginning. Other than that, it's great and I hope for an even better Desperados IV! :)
