Desperados III Demo

Thank you for bringing such a great game to our community. I have no words to say, finished previous ones at the time, brings back the memories! I cannot wait to get my hands on the full version.

I played Commandos 1 a lot and I consider Desperados 1 the best game of it's kind. Desperados 3 Demo is fine. I played it over eight hours and enjoyed it very much. I finished it several times, but it was too easy for me even on the hardest difficulty. Hopefully, it will be harder in later missions. Graphics is nice, but nothing special in 2020. The advantage is, that you do not need new computer to play this game and it is still beautiful. Disadvantage is, that it does not match the price at release date. Music is very good, but I was expecting Ennio Morricone's style. Gameplay is almost identical with Shadow Tactics, which I like and dislike at the same time. It is polished and modern, but I do not like rotating in this type of games. Highlighting interactive things makes game easier, which is also good and bad at the same time. The first tutorial mission in Shadow Tactics from the same creator was astonishing. The siege of the castle outside while you are sneaking inside was so good, that just because of this I bought it. I am missing this feel in Desperados 3, the first tutorial mission is just like an ordinary tutorial mission. Nothing special. I am missing all those references on spaghetti westerns, which was in the first Desperados game, like mission titles etc. Another thing I am missing is epicness. Compare it with the Shadow Tactics I mentioned before or with the movie The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (treasure hunting on the background of the civil war). But it is just my personal expectations. I am glad, that tactical strategy games like Commandos are not dead. I did not bought the full game yet, because it is too pricy for me, but I will definetely buy it, when the price will drop. Why demo versions are not standard these days? It was twenty years ago, so we are moving backwards?

I did a quick run through of the tutorial missions which are part of the demo and I must that it has exceeded all expectations I had for this continuation of a beloved series of mine. I was huge fan of the first Desperados and avoided the second, due to the somewhat missing charm. That is now back and in full effect. The art style looks gorgeous, animations are smooth and concise and the sound effects and music bring you into the game. Full points on this front. But the gameplay is of course also very important and I must say that Mimimi has absolutely nailed this effort. Every action you do is instant and every mistake you make is absolutely your own fault. The game never gets in your way and gives you all the tools you need to finish the mission successfully. Another full points score. I can only hope that this demo reflects the quality of the game at full release. In which case it will be an instant buy for me. P.S. The replay feature at the end is great.

My first experience with this kind of game was Commandos. This game is in almost all respects exactly like that, and I was initially elated at the prospect of playing something that is a lot like my old favorite, but with a new theme and updated for current times. I downloaded this 7GB demo and played until it finally ended with a polite message telling me to buy the game for more. What did I learn? Unfortunately the graphics really is not up to scratch for modern times. I cannot in my right mind pay so much for this game, no matter how nostalgic it makes me. I know there are lots of specials on here so I will keep an eye out and maybe get it later.

I absolutely love this genre. It combines stealth and strategy gameplay in such a unique way which is such a joy to play. The top down view really makes the stealth satisfying to execute. With the birds eye view and the ability to make plans for your entire cast of characters to execute actions at the same time makes for really engaging gameplay. Having one character stab a dude while the other shoots a guy who would have seen him. This takes the old desperados gameplay, but modernizes it and makes it alot more fluid to play. The mission in the Demo did feel alot easier than the missions in Desperados 1, but I chalk that down to Desperados 1 being clunky, rather than difficult at times. Over all a really solid game that people should buy to hopefully have more game made in this genre
