Description
The Desktop Dungeons: Enhanced Edition has arrived.

Now with new content and quests, new classes (that's 21 total now if you've been keeping count) and a new way to play: For the first time ever, compete against your friends (or the world at large) in the seeded Daily Dungeon.

Enhanced Edition features:

Secretly despise friends for already beating you on the Daily Dungeon leaderboards. Unlock a terrifying new building for your Kingdom.
Discover the Rat Monarch and Chemist classes... and their reasons for visiting the Kingdom.
Click through new quests and ignore exposition as it streams past you.
Gleefully and accurately sling spells from the player-requested drag-to-cast and radial menus.
Pages and pages of optimizations and bug fixes that are awesome but don't sound cool when we put them in lists like this one.

Desktop Dungeons is a quick-play, roguelike-like puzzle game that gives you 10-20 minutes of dungeon-crawling action per serving. Casual players can enjoy endless coffee-break gaming sessions in infinitely random dungeons, while hardcore enthusiasts can unearth the game’s subtleties and tackle challenges of unrealistic viciousness. Down all paths lies frequent death, easy accessibility and the urge to play just one more dungeon.

Cloud save notice: Desktop Dungeons has a completely optional cloud-saving system that's useful if you plan to play the same Kingdom on multiple machines, the browser version and mobile versions (coming soon). Your unique cloud-key can be found under My Account. This key must be redeemed here to create an in-game account.
  • The perfect coffee-break game: Fight your way through fantasy dungeons in as little as 10 minutes.
  • Never the same thing twice: Each dungeon is randomly generated, yet winnable. Explore the finely-tuned gameplay as you learn more and more impressive ways to beat vicious bosses and unlock new items, gods and heroes to play.
  • Prize-winning awesomeness: Classic roguelike play re-imagined as a unique single-screen puzzle adventure that won Excellence in Design at the 13th Annual IGF Awards.

Hard but satisfying

36.9 Std. insgesamt I love this game! It IS hard. It IS unfair (sometimes at least). But that's not a problem - it's an asset. DD has a high replayability and you will have to do several stages and tasks again and again because of wrong class, race, equippment or just one false klick. But in fact that's the thrill: to master the game you have to play some perfect rounds, know all the tricks and skills and of course you need a bit of luck. That sounds less fun than it actualy is. You got to plan and think a lot, but winning a difficult level will outweigh that. The approximately 10-15 minutes of playtime for each stage (when you survive, otherwise playtime can be much shorter ;) ) are well balanced between a short break and not loosing to much time in case of failure. A nice fact is that you can play DD after buying on Steam not only via Steam, but also via the DD website. A nice amusement if you are not at home and on a PC without Steam and don't need download and install anything. That works for Windows RT tablets too. When playing via website please consider, that Steam acchievments will not be unlocked and it does not count to your playing time. Otherwise I would have several hours more. In the end a good occasionally game you should not take to serious. At any discount a must-buy if you like roguelikes and have a good frustration tolerance. ;)

indeed an addictive game

puzzle and math (lots of divides by 10, ultiplications, and additions to do mentally), each dungeons does take about 20minutes, there is a progression, and a cloud sync but saved game has a very small size anyway. nice for small games when you have some time !

A delightful hybrid gem of a game.

If one were to ask the question: "What can the human mind create when possessed by the spirit of hard work, ingenuity, polish and a pint of cruelty?" The answer I'd give is they create Desktop Dungeons! While not a roguelike in the strictest sense, it still borrows elements from its more robust brethen, perhaps the most interesting ones, to keep gameplay fresh between sessions. It looks casual enough, but those entering play with that kind of mindset will soon find themselves tripping and fumbling in a seemingly endless streak of deaths and faiilures. Take heart, though. Desktop Dungeons is one of those "easy to learn, hard to master" games and rewards wise use of resources, preparation and long term decision making. The more elements you unlock in the form of equippable gear and other goodies, the more nuanced the game becomes, to the point that every single point of health and every combat exchange counts. It all may sound overwhelming, but the game is as addicitve as it is deep, and you'll keep coming back for more, as each class-race combination and dungeon setting offers unique challenges, and while one could argue Desktop Dungeons is also a puzzle game, and that is partially true - it borrows bits and pieces from puzzlers as it does from resource management games and the aforementioned roguelikes, but with such a delicate genre balance that you'll find yourself wondering just what you're playing and how the unlikely combination can possibly work so well! While early in the game most runs are coffeebreak sized, there are challenges for players of all skill levels, so the replay value is potentially infinite - the game will last you for as long as you are willing to expand it and rediscover it. If you don't feel confident in my words, go grab the alpha version for free and have yourself a taste of this great game, I'm sure you'll soon return and get the definitive, much improved version here!

great fantasy puzzle with one flaw

the game is great. you play dungeon after dungeon, getting new buildings and unlocking more classes, races and items. the one thing that stopped me, and still keeps me, from playing, is deaths from accidental missclicks. there is no reason why you would ever want to attack a monster that kills you. yet it happens because i like to play and click very fast. the game does give a visual warning when you're about to suicide, but it does not stop you from doing so or ask confirmation. if you're the kind of guy who thinks every move through 3 times before actually doing it, you won't have that problem and it's a clear 5-star game. but if you play fast, it will happen. that's why only 4 stars from me. it's been over a year since i've played it until the official end and i have no desire to play it again.
