Fun at first, but repetitive and buggy

In terms of fun and beauty, this game is not even close to Subnautica. In terms of bugs, this game is very close to early access Subnautica. In completing the first three levels, I found such bugs as looping "threat" music if you fend off the shark too early, some infected animals continuously visible as infected on the screen after you heal them, pick-up interaction not displaying in some angles, you could go through the rocks somewhere on Pirate's Nest map, and I think there were some more, not to mention I didn't get any achievements despite completing 3 levels to 100%. The mechanics leave a lot to be desired, from gameplay (repetitive tasks) to interactions (interaction stops if you accidentally move your "crosshairs" to another object lying nearby, which is annoying). Even at the maximum settings, I wouldn't say the graphics are as good as Subnautica. Yet, the game is so poorly optimized that even on a very modern gaming system there are inexplicable lags in some places (which is not the case with other games with lower hardware requirements). Moreover, at level 4 it somehow loads my PC to the point a 1000Va line-interactive UPS can't take it after I spend some time playing the level. The killing blow was today, when I loaded the game after a several days delay to try and complete level 4 only to find out that all my progress is gone and I'd have to do the first three levels all over again. Was it the update? A cloud save error? Considering how bugged it is, maybe the fact that I changed my video settings to try to lower the load on my PC? I don't know, but at that point I was very tempted to demand my money back even if the price is insubstantial. I may play it again at some point, but right now, I'm not happy with my player experience at all and will be wary about buying something from the developer in the future. Is this a diving simulator in the end? Hard to say, but I'd rather say no than yes. The devs make their message about nature clear though.

NOT a diving simulator

The tilte sounded good to me since I am crazy about scubbadiving. But this game has nothing to do with a simulation of scubadiving: -The O²-counter functions as a mere timer. Normally you use more air if you move around faster and if you're in deeper water. If you hit a stone or even soft sand, time gets deducted from your O²-timer as a punishment. -The diver uses his hands to swim around. In reality you have fins for that and are taught to NOT use your hands. -Your goal is to collect sealife like shells and sea stars as well as garbage and treasures. -You cannot interact with the underwater fauna. Even bigger creatures (beside sharks) are just for decoration. -You zap some objects with a lasergun or heal ill fishes with a healing beam... yeah... diving simulatior at it's best. You care for the fishes but take shells out of the ecosystem :-) -Sharks actively attack you, even if not provoked. The two stars are for the graphics only, which indeed look nice, but your diving area is very limited by underwater forcefields. Actually I believe that the developers have never done a single real dive before. This game is a collect-stuff-game, but in no way a simulator. If you're looking for a tranquli, relaxing game before bedtime - goahead! But don't expect a diving simulator. This game has as much to do with diving as a cow playing a piano... This was just a waste of money.

Nothin simulated here

I bought the game for a nice "Diving experience" - the problem is. There is no simulation at all. It is about collecting stuff, nice visuals, etc. but there is nothing about diving in there, which is more than superficial. Sadly there is not simulation content at all. Sorry I bought it.

Just so so…

Well, it's a pretty OKish game, but do yourselves a favor and get it on sale. Most annoying are the usability problems. Example: I was under the impression that (of course!) to resurface, you just swim up to the water surface, and that's it. But, erm, no! Big surprise, and first level messed up for me -- and back to zero. When you enter "deep diving simulator h" into google, the first entry coming up is "deep diving simulator how to resurface", so this is saying something. What you have to do is: swim up to the water surface, then look at the top of the screen for the big blue resurface icon to appear, and then press and hold F or left mouse button. (Yes, it's that clunky.)

Diving Simulator

The two stars given here is a reflection on the terrible control system and complete lack of a manual or tutorial. The need for the manual and/or tutorial is due to the obtuse controls. When you try to surface you must push either F, space, or some other key until something happens. Early in the game you get a scanner which indicates things that need to be removed from the environment by highlighting them in red. Good luck figuring out how to remove them. F the action key doesn't do it. Shooting them with the echo gun doesn't do it. Is the frustration with not knowing how anything is accomplished until you stumble across it a "feature" of the game? Eventually, a simple description of how the control system works will come out on the internet. Don't buy this game until that happens.
