Not Quite my Kind of Game

I'm uncertain whether I couldn't get into this game because of its gameplay, or whether I couldn't get into it because of its immersion-breaking "bugs." I don't want to call them bugs because they're not glitches or game-breaking, but there's a missing layer of polish in a game like this. There seems to be collision issues with enemy models, and I'll see the gory bits of a dead enemy jiggling on a flower or slope. There's a few UI tweeks that don't render/load properly, but it all boils down to reminding me I'm playing a game. I do like it's sense of humor, but the game isn't for me, and it's not well polished enough that I feel I an give it a 4 star rating.

Close but no cigar

I really wanted to like this game. It gave me salt and sanctuary vibes which is very good. In the end it was very shallow, short and linear. It's an ok time killer but it's closer to the disaster Momodora but that you can actually level in this game. Good first attempt, would check out if they released a sequal or a spiritual successor to be sure.

Souls in 32 bits

I love dark souls but I wish it had more story, color, speed and pixal Oh look here comes Death's Gambit! The game is fun but I need to finish dark souls 2 first, however I know the next game to play when I finish it. Here the combat is fun but how when you swing only once instead of a combo? Well it means you can hit and run like hollow knight style. Parrying is so good and fast. The Pixal graphics give it more color's showing a great world fill of- you already know if you have already played dark souls. The story is better than dark souls because it has better characters that talk to you and tell you, Find your own fate to follow instead of tell you go there to find something, I don't know go shopping at the souls store and bring more gummi bear next time. It dose feel a little chucky but it feels smooth enough for me to give that good feeling of being the servant to the angel of death

Want 2D Dark Souls? You now have it!

Of the time that I have played of this game, it is the 2D Dark Souls that fans of the series and genre have been looking for. Art Direction - The pixelated graphics and 3D (only some) create an awesome aesthetic. I really love the character designs as they are colorful, creative, and voice acted. The voice acting is well done and works well with the game. I am very happy with the look of the game. Combat - Combat at first can feel slow and clunky; but so did Dark Souls at first. As a player, timing is everything and using the roll and dash will be very helpful to learn. The character has stamina that iss consumed during rolling, attacking, and blocking. The player will regenerate their stamina, but based on their endurance stat, it depends on how fast. The player has a number of profiles they can choose from to start the game. Based on the starting profile will also determine your starting weapon, a long sword, axe, scythe, broadsword, or halberd. Once the player starts to level up, the character will be stronger, faster and more resiliant. Gameplay - The player saves their progress through shrines to Death. When the player rests there, the game is saved and the players progress is saved as well. There is no fast travel, but so far, that doesn't seem to be a big negative. The game is worth the price of admission and for fans of Dark Souls and games like those, you will enjoy this game!
