Step into the myth-shrouded lands where the hunter Ro begins her journey to bring her son back from the dead. Immerse yourself in the depths of the Spirit World, fractured into 4 realms and scarred with 13 distinct regions. Confront over 30 enemy types and harness the potential of more than 160 cards, forging unique archetypes and a multitude of powerful combinations. A dark journey awaits you, spanning 25 hours of gameplay, with numerous enthralling side quests and grim boss battles.
Craft over 160 cards and fashion synergistic decks that focus on poison, strength, sacrifice, retaliation, backstabbing, blocking, movement, and more. Discover shamanic totems with unique effects to enhance your deck. Each new element allows you to tailor your tactical style as you prepare for your next deadly encounter.
Face a host of restless spirits - Skulldogs, Crackle Bursts, Woeful Seashrooms and more - in grid-based battles where each move is crucial. Test your wit by fighting unique enemy types, powerful bosses, and mini-bosses, all while taking into account environmental hazards and boons. Grow stronger, adapt your deck, and choose your battles as you explore a vast world filled with dangerous challenges.

Guided by voices from another world, she transcends into the realm of spirits, in hopes of bringing him back. Meet strange spirits and help them with quests and challenges that affect your deck – although not all of them may have your best interests at heart. Discover a mysterious world of forgotten lore, where darkness whispers secrets and invites you to unearth buried memories.
The game is hard and relaxing at the same time. Slow pace, unusual setting with understandable struggles. While I'm usually not a fan of a pixel art, this one looks nice. The only issue that I have with a game - too much grind for me. You need extra battles to gain resources for new cards, and to get upgrades. I think it unnecessary makes the game longer. Other than that - be ready for tactical battles and tough bosses.
The way this game treats such complex themes in a truly human way and the combat feels amazing. Not only the cards are the key to overcome difficult battles, but observing the creatures and learning from their behaviour.
If you like strategy games and deep storytelling, this game is surely for you.
Death Howl is an amazing, beautiful game.
Everything about this product speaks of passion put into by the developers - the audiovisuals match the story and set the atmosphere.
The combat is an improved Into The Breach experience.
The card aspect is extremely satisfying, when built properly the game lets you draw your entire deck and then some in one turn - it understands it's single player and it should not only be challenging but also fun.
The gameplay is exploratory Soulslike-style, even despite being a card game - you learn of enemy abilities the hard way, for example, an enemy may have a "Retaliate" tag but before checking, you don't know if the enemy retaliates ranged, melee or maybe in another specific circumstance and even what that retaliation could be (sometimes they don't retaliate with damage!).
The story itself is both sad and beautiful, it speaks of loss and the ability to overcome our grief. Every piece of information you're given is consistent throughout the game, even things that don't add up early on eventually start making sense.
The only thing that is missing is a hard mode/New Game+ to add replayability - but even without it, it's solid 30h+ of immersive experience, which is much more than I've expected given the pricetag.
Beautiful visuals, emotional story and addictive gameplay. There is a little bit of a grind, but beacuse the combat is so satisfying, building up the deck and skills was very rewarding - especially that it is balanced very well and doesn't require too much time. Some battles require you to switch up tactics, keeping the gameplay fresh and encouraging creative problem solving. I also loved the music and overall atmosphere!
You can really feel the passion that was put into this game. If tactical deck builders are your thing, this is absolutely worth trying!
If you're a fan of pixel art and dark settings, this game is for you. The artistic direction is top notch in this game.
If you're not, then the deckbuilding aspect of the game is interesting and good, so if you like deckbuilding games in general, you'll probably enjoy this game.
If you're here because the game tags itself as a soulslike and you're looking for a challenge, this game is not for you. The game is NOT challenging if you understand even a little bit about deckbuilding games in general. Even if you don't, the game is extremely generous with resources which will ensure that you are never stuck on a given fight.
Overall, it's a good game still, well worth the price tag.
