An excellent survival horror experience
I greatly enjoyed this game on the XBOX 360, and I feel the same after playing it all the way through on PC as well. Pro Tip: I did not have the issues with mouse controls that some are reporting. I disabled VSYNC in the game options, and enabled VSYNC in the NVIDIA control panel. After that, I increased mouse sensitivity to roughly 75% using the in game options. It now plays perfectly for me. Any other "input lag" people are experiencing is due to the game intentionally slowing things down a bit to add suspense. Your character is not supposed to be a super-man, but an ordinary engineer, and it was the same on console. The game plays very much like Resident Evil 4 in terms of speed. I completed it using a mouse with no issues whatsoever, and I had a blast. Full disclosure: I have Windows 10, an Nvidia GTX 970, and a solid state drive. Positives: The game does an excellent job with world-building, and atmosphere. You really feel like you are on a derelict ship in deep space, attempting to solve a terrifying mystery. There is a great story here as well. The graphics, despite some occasionally obvious low res textures, look excellent in 1080p with all effects enabled. The graphics have aged quite well, and add to the sense of place. As I mentioned above, the controls are fine using a mouse, and it has the same speed of reaction time as the console, albeit somewhat improved thanks to a greater frame-rate. The game play is varied and keeps you guessing without a lot of repetition, except for, you know, shooting stuff. New game plus mode adds a lot of replay value as well. Cons: Some low-res textures, bossy NPC's that send you on a lot of fetch quests to drive the narrative forward, getting attacked by a lot of enemies at once can be a little overwhelming (though I suspect this is on purpose). Overall this is an excellent game that I have played through many, many times, and continue to enjoy. An awesome addition to anyone's DRM free library.

Excellent Sci-Fi horror shooter
Very impressed with this one, I'm not usually a fan of third person perspective or games which use checkpoints, but this one does both right, The controls work well, and never feel awkward, and the save points are well positioned. The graphics are excellent, and the sound goes along perfectly - there's plenty of "horror movie" scares where a shocking scene goes with an audio build up.

A must play for Halloween season
Okay, not only Haloween, but believe me when I say that this is a must-play in the spooky season. The game is fantastic. A very deep story, set in the future and in space. There are similar stories such as Alien the 8th passenger, but it is not a repetitive story. It is original and well designed. I bought this game because my brother has been recomending it for almost 5 years if I remember well. So, I bought it this year, but I started playing it on this week, for the Halloween week. I wanted to play new (or maybe "new" for me) horror games. In the graphical part. I think the game is awesome for the age. So, if you are not looking for AAA games graphical parts, and you only want to enjoy a good old game, buy it. You won't regret. The game run very smooth at 144 fps in modern hardware. The only thing I dislike a little is that Isaac, the main protagonist does not speak. It is strange but you can get used to. (Other protagonists from other games of the same age speak). I personally prefer the survival horror games where you don't have any type of guns, so you have to survive the threads only by running and hiding. This is not the case because you have weapons and you can upgrade them, or use other type of weapons, some of them more powerful than the others, and you have to figure out by yourself when and where to use them. It has 3 difficulty levels. I have only played it in hard mode because I wanted to have a real challenge. I was upset in the beggining because I was dying and dying, but in maybe one hour, I was feeling better. It has a well learning curve for the gameplay and controls. There are two more Dead Space, unfortunely they aren't here in GOG store, but I own them in other platform. I didn't played them yet, but I was told that the best entry is this. Waiting for the Dead Space REMAKE and maybe replaying it next Halloween!!! (it is scheduled to be released on January 2023).
