Fight, struggle, have fun, die
Love every part of it, and it's nice for a fast 20-30 min session from time to time

Dead Cells is a roguelite, metroidvania inspired, action-platformer. You'll explore a sprawling, ever-changing castle... assuming you’re able to fight your way past its keepers in 2D souls-lite combat. No checkpoints. Kill, die, learn, repeat.
Dead Cells puts you in control of a failed alchemic experiment trying to figure out what's happening on a sprawling, ever-changing and seemingly cursed Island. Immortal but crippled, your last resort is to take over bodies in order to move, explore… and fight.
While you may well be immortal, the corpses you possess are not. Each time your host is destroyed, you will be sent back to the dungeon to find yourself a new one and start again...
Experience a Roguevania, mixing an interconnected world, branching paths and unlockable skills with the constant adrenaline-pumping threat of permadeath. No checkpoints. You either vanquish the final boss in one go or you try again. However, you keep some of your progress for successive runs new paths you’ve unlocked, access to new levels, mutations, abilities and weapons.
Tough but fair combat, responsive controls, challenging foes, and of course, the emergency panic roll to get you out of trouble make for a visceral and cathartic action game.

Absolutely amazing!
Great game! There's so much that can be said about it, but the best thing you can do, it's just try it, you're not gonna regret it! "Tough but fair combat" - absolutely true. Takes some time to master the moves, but when you do, you feel the satisfaction and pride connected with improving your skills. It took me around an hour to beat the game for the first time BUT it took around 12 hours to get to that point, where I can beat it. And that's the easiest difficulty. There are 5 more, each one more diffcult than the other, so it will take you some (a lot) time to truly beat the game. But the journey is more important. You have to learn from your mistakes, explore the best builds and paths you choose. And there's also the sense of humour. I was laughing so hard after I finish the game for the first time because of one simple thing developers did with the credit scene. And there are many easter eggs and references to other games (like Hollow Knight) which brighten your run. I find myself playing run after run just because I made a stupid mistake and I just can't let it go like that, so be careful, as the game is really addictive! The gameplay is fast paced, but the progression (collecting blueprints for different weapons and skills) takes some time. Even if you die, but manage to reach a checkpoint, the death is not so bad, as you did progress a little bit further. And of course the value of learning from your mistakes is probably the most important thing. Try it!

Addicting but some unfair
Content: There is not much you could call story, more a vague content that let you guess what is going on. Most of the stuff is kind of unpleasent horror stuff. Its a monster slayer game not more. Gameplay: Fast and fun to play, or allso with some carefull planing possible... until a lot of mobs shoot through walls, that you cant. Then you are screwed anyway. Weapons: Most of the wepons are some what fun, because there are some strange ones but most of them are allso useless, and since you get them randomly in a quality that needs a lot uf update it does not make much sense to change them often. Restart the game until you get the one you want is kind of unpleasent but nessecary, since the GOG version of the game does not work correct excluding weapons. Skills Some possible but since you can only have two of them its kind of frustrating. Mutation A lot of possible one, most of them useless. If you want to go further you will stick with the same 4-5 ones. (3 possible at the same time) Keystrokes: Well you can play quite fast in this game, until you discover that the keys does not allways react. Don't think you are not fast enough to react to the mobs, it is the game that does not allways get your key-strokes an this is very frustrating. Because of the bad balance of the keys and the weapon/abiltys I've got some hate-love for the game. It is kind of smoth to play until the game desides to be a show stopper by not reacting.

Endlessly replayable
Excellent combat and movement mechanics, fantastic depth of strategy, and compelling motivation to do better. You will die. A lot. Then you will play more.
