Description
Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s ground breaking Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a mind-bending, time travel, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world!

Now, over twenty years later, Day of the Tentacle is back in a remastered edition that features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music and sound effects (which the original 90s marketing blurb described as ‘zany!’)

Players are able to switch back and forth between classic and remastered modes, and mix and match audio, graphics and user interface to their heart's desire. We’ve also included a concept art browser, and recorded a commentary track with the game’s original creators Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian.

Day of the Tentacle was Tim Schafer’s first game as co-project lead, and a much beloved cult classic! This special edition has been lovingly restored and remade with the care and attention that can only come from involving the game's original creators.
  • 100% new hand painted, high resolution artwork
  • Switch on the fly between classic mode and remastered mode
  • Remastered high quality voices, sound effects and music, with emulated “iMuse” style dynamic music
  • Choose between two remastered music modes: modernized, re-voiced music, or classic music which sounds just like it did in the 90s
  • Concept Art Browser
  • Highly customizable user interface and experience, with mix and match options for old and new play styles - play with the verb bar in remastered mode, or the new verb dial in classic mode
  • Commentary track with original creators: Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian.
  • Game within a game: Includes full playable version of Maniac Mansion!

Great adventure

This is one of the best adventure games you will find. It's a massive classic and the first game I that had full voice in it. I was amazed when I saw it back in the early 90's. Though the old game still holds it's ground the remake is rather good thank's to the original persons behind it. If you have not played it then for the love of games buy it now!!!!!

Brilliant Remake

Have to say this game was practically my childhood. I used to go to after school club and this was one of two games they had on the Windows 95 PC there. Plays exactly how I remember it, and works on modern systems too (including Windows 10). Not sure about the new interface, however I guess its a comprimise that had to be made so that the console version could be made. I'd prefer an option to have the older interface but this is a minor complaint at best.

Day of the Tentacle is a true classic

Day of the Tentacle is the peak of LucasArt point n click adventure imo, there's a quirky story with quirky characters. The soundtrack is perfect and the remaster makes the game look beautiful! A great variation in the voice acting makes it enjoyable as well. There's interesting gameplay mechanics beyond the regular point n click, such as the time travel feature - sending things through time and changing the past are additions to the game to not make it repetitive. Seeing the same house in three versions makes it fun on a meta-level tbh and I have to admit I'm a fan of games that does this. Day of the Tentacle is definitely for the point n click lover, LucasArt really did their best here and thanks to DoubleFine it really gets to shine again. Love it!

DOTT RM

I played the original CD-Rom "talkie" when it first came out. In the triangle box, like the one on this guy's shelf. then sold it on ebay for $80 years later. I just bought Grim Fandango RM. But Zak McKracken and the alien mind benders. That would be a perfect game to remaster.

One of the Best Games Ever!

Bear in mind, when looking at rating scores, that 4.6 (DoTT's rating at the time of writing) has been knocked down by at least 0.9 points by people complaining that the game is late, that it doesn't have a Linux version, that it's not translated into Venusian, and other nonsense reasons like that, which have nothing to do with how good or bad the game is. If people have complaints about customer service, they should complain to customer service, not skew the ratings of the games -- possibly making people miss out on games they would have loved. The true GOG rating for Day of the Tentacle is, therefore, and highly appropriately, 5.5 out of 5. If you haven't played it, you really need to. You can't miss out on something so historically important -- which, fortunately, happens to be a brilliant game, at the same time!
