Scattered across the kingdom are seven ancient major crystals which together invoke the power of the Orb. Without it, you have no hope of defeating your fire-breathing nemesis. You will creep through dungeons and castles, explore the wilderness, encounter traps, curses, and puzzles on your quest to unearth the crystals. It may take months. It may take years. It may take away any hope you ever had of living a normal, productive, twentieth-century life.
Darkstone is a classic hack'n'slash game with everything a good game of its kind should have: randomly generated loot, four character classes, a well-implemented cooperative mode, and four difficulty levels that use the well-known Diablo-style formula of each level being the possibility of further progression for you character. In addition, the game mechanics are extremely smooth and fluent. Bottom line, if you feel like killing some evil monsters and saving the world in the process you can’t possibly go wrong with Darkstone.
Randomly generated dungeons, quests, items, and four difficulty levels assure an exceptionally high replayability value.

On my Laptop, the game works perfectly, aside from the audio occasionally skipping.
On my PC, however, there's another issue in addition to the above one.
The way the game renders Fullscreen mode on this system cuts off the top and bottom of the screen, leading to areas you can't click on. The only way I know to get around this is to use the "-window" launch argument, and also change my screen resolution so the doesn't appear as tiny (only runs in 640x480 p)
I learnt long ago that a fun game doesn't have to be new. This is one of those games. A whole lot of fun, even on my beat-up old laptop. If your into Diablo or similar, this is a really well designed game for 1 or more players (although I haven't tested the multiplayer option yet). For just over $1, it was a massive return on investment :)
Darkstone is an understated classic. It has been a favorite in my house for a very long time. We love that it has new and different quests each time we start again. Give it a try! The GoG version works fine on my Windows 10 PC. Be sure to read the manual, as there are some little tricks and shortcuts that will make you crazy if you just plunge in.
Great for a casual RPG session alone or with friends. We have a local network in our home and often play together.

This game is PlayStation's "Diablo"... Sega Genesis had "Light crusader". This is great old game I played as a kid, a lot difficult back then for me! Play it and you will have feeling of Diablo 1. The downside is that the keyboard controls are not customizable. A sequel please!
