Description
Return to an apocalyptic Earth in Darksiders III, a hack-n-slash Action Adventure where players assume the role of FURY in her quest to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins. The most unpredictable and enigmatic of the Four Horsemen, FURY must succeed where many have failed – to bring balance to the forces that now ravage Earth. Darksiders III is the long-anticipated, third chapter in the critically-acclaimed Darksiders franchise.

  • Play as FURY - a mage who must rely on her whip and magic to restore the balance between good and evil on Earth!
  • Harness FURY’s magic to unleash her various forms – each granting her access to new weapons, moves and traversal abilities.
  • Explore an open-ended, living, free-form game world in which FURY moves back and forth between environments to uncover secrets while advancing the story.
  • Defeat the Seven Deadly Sins and their servants who range from mystical creatures to degenerated beings.
  • Sit in awe of Darksiders signature art style – expansive post-apocalyptic environments that take the player from the heights of heaven to the depths of hell, dilapidated by war and decay and overrun by nature.

In-FURY-ating

This game while good overall has been, unfortunately, the victim of the trend around the time of its production... the Dark Souls game like trend where you better bring the A game in every combat or you will get obliterated. A bit off since Fury should be far more powerfull even in a state like hers. I must admit that her character development ingame is quite well done and the transition from a spoiled karen to a mature and powerful woman is soo visible and nice to see. Pros: Decent story, with the 7 sins as bosses with a character development after each one. Cool new powers and weapons. Quite large but liniar world to explore. Cons: It felt off compared to the previous two and not in the good way. Less, "magical" than Darksiders 1 and 2. Combat was annoying at times as if you got unbalanced you would be obliterated by even the fodder demons. A good overall game but with a Dark Souls flaw... good for those who like that kind but its not the power fantasy Darksiders we knew.

A great surprise

I am about halfway through the game and so far it is great. I see many people giving this a bad review, which is weird. Combat is hard indeed, but if you take it on the easiest difficulty you will manage. In my opinion it doesn't matter that they didn't include a horse. People saying that this game is linear is kind of true, but there is still a lot of secrets to explore. The graphics are amazing, but unfortunately it requires a much better Graphics Card to play on max settings compared to Darksiders I and Darksiders II (this is a review for the first version of the game, that has been released which means we might see better optimization in the future). Unfortunately the story is simpler than Darskiders 1 and 2 (for instance when you meet the makers in the start of the game there is no dialogue with them, which is pretty bad). There are some puzzles in the game, but not enough. But it is actually a great game, and I am glad that they continued the Darksiders series. I see that some people in the reviews complain about bugs. WHAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT?! I have only experienced very few and minor bugs. And I am playing on Linux with DXVK Wine (which is very impressive, that Darksiders III works perfectly on Linux with DXVK Wine). With my PC I can have everything on max settings with 50-60 FPS. I have an AMD rx 580 8 GB and a Ryzen 1800x. This is a very great game, but it has one huge problem: It has too few checkpoints. If you die you spawn waaay too long back. This means 10 minutes of fighting through monster will be in vain if you die; because monsters respawn when you die. I really hope they will fix this in an update. This game is worth the full price.

Best Darksiders in the series. 4.5/5

This game is so much fun. Seriously, do not allow yourself to be distracted by the eternal litany of 'is this Dark Souls like'... judge this game on its own merits. + Gameplay is a lot of fun. Darksiders 3 is a noticeable step up in difficulty from the previous entries in the series. On the one hand, this can be a source of frustration, since there is no manual save and the teleporters can be rather far off. On the other hand, this allows you to feel how, as time goes on, you have improved both your own gaming abilities as well as your character's gear. Weapons and powers are varied and fun to use. There are hand-placed little secrets everywhere and they're rewarding to discover, so if you like to explore or solve the occasional puzzle, you'll be happy. You can customise gear (via charms and upgrades) and attributes to your liking, so you can play the way you want, though diminishing returns on attributes limit variability. + It has tons of atmosphere. This game is faithful to the tone and atmosphere set by previous entries. A bit cheesy sometimes, true, but never boring. It has a distinct art style, so don't expect photorealism here. Playing as Fury is a true blast. Her voice acting is excellent. I think THQ did a great job with designing five main area 'themes' (green city, crypts, swamp etc.), but as you track down the Sins, you'll switch from one theme to the next, so there's always variance. The music varies between 'oh, there's been music playing' and 'I'll just listen for a while'. + Fury rocks. She's the most flavourful horseman so far, she's a joy in combat (even if there's no blocking... but there's a lot of satisfaction in getting perfect dodges, as that enables her to use far more powerful moves). And she looks absolutely kick-ass. - FPS drops in some areas. - Telegraphing can be hit-and-miss leading to a swift death. - No manual save. Too few savepoints. All in all, this game is a great popcorn game: Kick ass with Fury and enjoy the ride. :)

Such a disappointment

I hate this game so much, and it pains me to say this. I love the first Darksiders, and I absolutely adore Darksiders2. Comparing this one to those is inevitable, and the direction the developers took with this one, while it could have been great, its just terrible. The combat it could be ok, if not for the enemies and the terrible dodge. You know a hack and slash game is fucked when I run from every fucking fight, even from the ones that supposed to be easy. Hit stun? What is that? The lamest of enemies cant be interrupted from their combo moves, and they can kill you with a single combo move. I know people are sick of comparing this to Dark Souls, but the inspiration couldn't be any more obvious. The problem is that this game does not have the clear and polished level design, nor the combat system. The game constantly throws at you multiple enemies, when the combat system clearly is not made for that. I am very disappointed. Words cannot describe how sad this makes me.
