I've waited for 3 years after release to play the game. Gameplay is great, story is great, quality is great, graphics are great.
Played on Very Hard, died a lot, but it was loads of fun.
DeusEx is one of my all time favorite games and replay it often enough. Cyberpunk is going to be another game to replay.
With almost 70 hours and not yet done this game is excellent and is highly recommended, especially the Ultimate Edition. Gun play is just as good and the voice acting is also good and so is the story. One can actually build a bond or rivalry with characters. Good graphics, good sound, easily travel around Night City and the very occasionally a NPC that is halfway in the ground or floating. With everything that is going on around the the player, this is a bit of humor in Night City and almost "supposed" to be there...
Playing on Linux (OpenSuse Tumbleweed) and using Heroic launcher with defaults and working flawlessly. CD Project Red team a native Linux verion would be nice here, but for now working.
Story: several times, the game left me frozen in my chair. Several times, I could not take my eyes off the screen. Interacting with in-game characters, I always tried to exhaust all the dialog options in most of the side quests, as the world and its inhabitants were just so captivating. A couple of times, I restarted the mission after realizing the consequences of my choices for the world and the characters I cared about. Like reading a good book, sometimes it was hard to stop. Late at night, tired, I plaid just a bit more to see how a mission would end. This is an engaging game. It gave me strong feelings. Some characters I hated, some I loved. For most, I felt sorry. But no one has left me feeling nothing or bored.
Gameplay. Shooting was very fun. Guns look and sound fresh and exciting. The ability to carry several weapons made me want to experiment. I quickly settled on a long-range sniper path, but I peeked into other options every now and then. RPG elements were a bit too complicated for me and I feel like I did not use or even understand it much. It wasn't intuitive. However, I still engaged with the mechanics and I feel like in the next replay I will understand and enjoy it even more.
Performance. I played on a 2019 laptop with an RTX2070, SSD, and Intel i7. Very high/Ultra settings everywhere but raytracing. Smooth and gorgeous. I wish I had a 4K monitor and better gear. There were some bugs and a couple of crashes, but none prevented me from enjoying the game.
Final thoughts: I bought this game when it came out because I knew it would eventually be a great game. This is CDPR's reputation. I feel like I was right. This was a worthwhile experience that I will go through again sometime later. I enjoyed every minute of playing this game. The highlight for me was the story, characters, and worldbuilding. I just wish there were more games like this one.
I'm mainly posting here in hopes of clearing up some confusion, because there seem to be a lot of people concerned they may be missing out on something included in the Ultimate Edition if they bought CP2077 and Phantom Liberty separately. After a bit of googling, it looks to me like Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is just a way to buy everything that's been put out in a single package: that is to say, I *think* that if you already bought CP2077 and Phantom Liberty separately, you already have everything included in the Ultimate Edition.
CDPR could really do themselves a favor by communicating that more clearly.
Since I do have all the content (bought separately), 5 stars from me: CP2077 blazed onto my short list of GOAT PC games when it released on December 10, 2020. Updates/PL are just refinements & icing on a masterpiece cake.
Phantom Liberty's core Songbird storyline feels to me a little extraneous, distracting, & copy-catty to V's. V's OG storyline is far more compelling to me than Songbird's Scrappy-Doo-ing.
I'm being a little harsh to make a point here - it's still a very cool storyline delivering some deep pathos & genuine shivers, beautifully done and very much worth my money. I'm just saying if a genie gave me a CP2077 wish, I'd opt for a true finish to V's story, picking up right where I left off for a fully-rounded completion of The Sun ending with full-on Neuromancer/AI/Straylight vibes rather than the new-character-sidebar we got.
Story quibbles aside, I think PL is *excellent* overall, & the Dogtown subdistrict & factions are a compelling, fascinating addition to the game. Its release -- in addition to all the free 2.x updates -- was a smart move on CDPR's part after all the frustration and drama of CP2077's initial release.
Champing at the bit for ORION!
