The memory leaks are real. Which leads to crashes and other
software malfunctioning on the system (i.e. browser, game clients etc).
And there are other smaller issues, of course, like cars not
showing the correct image in the select screen etc.
And please don't repeat my mistake and install the game on a SSD,
since the game likes to load a lot of stuff.
However, you can still feel this project was started before the
corp join the big leagues and money became their primary concern.
A little of the initial spirit is still there.
So, my advice, enjoy it. I surely did.
Phantom Liberty is a great DLC. The main story is really engaging and kept me intrigued until the end. The new characters are excellently written with many facets that come to light the longer you play. Dogtown is an interesting setting with lots of stuff to discover. It feels really like a bustling, vibrant city and is a great addition to the existing Night City. I had virtually no technical issues, apart from a handful of crashes when starting/terminating the game. Phantom Liberty is a great DLC, which makes Cyberpunk even better.
Yes the release was bad, very bad and that's no excuse. But Playing now, with the expansion and latest updates, man....it's such a great game. I was so sad after finishing it. I wanted more, I got attached to the characters, to V, to everyone. Great story, great gameplay, good job.
This expansion is one of the few games I've seen to not screw up an expansion to the original story.
For the first time in a long time, I actually had to make choices that were chosen with care and always felt like I could have done something different, wondering what could have happened, if there were better decisions to make.
I loaded up my old pre-2.0 save and immediately was greeted with the new perks system but didn't encounter any major issues. Took a bit of time to figure it out but it is quite easy to learn thanks to it's simplicity.
The weapons have had their damage aspects nerfed dramatically, but not the point my old overture pistol was useless, it still packed quite a punch, melee weapons however, were nerfed to the point that I'd prefer using guns over anything else.
The story didn't have any obvious conflicts and poor writing to just milk the game for money like many other
developers would have done, the only thing I did notice is that in some places, it felt like they added some slow sections to increase the amount of playtime, but it didn't feel excessive like in some other games I've played. There were also a couple of bugs here and there, but these weren't anything major and minor visual bugs, likely remaining from the base game. The only mildly irritating bug I encountered locked me from opening my inventory and anything else, but this was fixed by saving the game and then loading that save which only took a couple seconds.
For a total of £45 (base game + expansion) [what I paid], I'd say the value I got was outstanding, I genuinely never enjoyed a game like this in such a long time. If they ever make another expansion, I would have a genuine reason to be confident in pre-ordering it, making it the first time I'd ever pre-order anything.
The combat in Phantom Liberty is better, but the story is lackluster. Idris Elba is extremely one-toned and has zero depth, And I'm just so fed up with either in the ending with Songbird. You have to be ultimately Jesus and forgive her for all of her sins, or take an ending that is so depressing and lackluster that the devs even realized how bad it must be because they made it so quick and easy to end the final cut scene do not buy this DLC if you are seeking in any way a happier ending and seeking any depth coming from the main story of phantom liberty the gigs are good and the combat's good nothing else. Another criticism is that there are very few precision rifles in the game, and many guns have their models but still do not have the iconics of their rifles—the pressure. There is zero value to playing a nice person in Phantom Liberty. It would be best to play a mean, vindictive person because nothing you do affects the outside world of Cyberpunk 2077. It feels pathetic writing the main story.
