I never felt so cheated in my entire life. I expected quality of Witcher series and i got half the quality of ubisoft generic open world game. Characters are mediocre, plot is mediocre and shallow, nothing unexpected. The city is like skyrim but every side "quest" is exactly the same.
What did the devs spend the budget on? Keanu Reeves? This is absolutely tragic. I spent money for AAA title and got an indie game with pathetic and shallow plot and map with 200 of the same activity with no surprises.
You truly don't deserve anything higher than 1 star. This isn't worth AAA money.
Bugged, poorly optimised, crashy, predictable, shallow and most importantly - mediocre to the bone.
It is a solid game with amazing vissuals and good gameply and engaging story. Bit buggy but defently has room to grow. Excited to see where this game will go. curent ratting 7.5/10 or 3.5/5. I hope this game in 6 months can be a 9/10
The game has many flaws, you can read the rest of the reviews, they are all right. Some are more anoying than others, my top one is the minimap zoom.
But also, these type of flaws are easy to fix and we can expect them to be fixed.
I give stars based on the fun I have. I played better games this year (won't name them) but they didn't hook me like Cyberpunk 2077 did, in fact, I haven't enjoyed a game this much in the last year.
Has the game flaws? yes. Did I have a blast playing? also yes.
I wanted to like this game. The graphics are incredible, the ideas and themes are new and fresh, and the story seemed to be awesome; but the more time I spent with the game the more it's flaws shined through.
Don't be mistaken by plot synopsis' V is not the main character of this game, Night City is the main character and was the main focus of the developers. So much time and energy was ovbiously poured into making the city feel like a living breathing place with history and lore. Now that I've finished its become obvious that the majority of the time and energy put into this game was here, on the city itself, everything else was secondary.
The bugs are constant and varied. This game needed MONTHS of development just to fix the hundreds of bugs that it contains, many runing missions and forcing you to retrack to previous saves.
My biggest complaint lies with the main story. I haven't been this dissappointed with a story since the Mass Effect 3 debacle, and I would argue that the story offered here, and its conclusion are marginally worse. The entierty of Act 1 is prologue, the Title rolls at the very end of Act 1. 90% of the game takes place in Act 2, with the bulk of your time in this phase of the main quest being focused on interactions with one character in particular. In this phase the bulk of your time with the game will be side quests. The Main missions burn by so fast that by the time I reached endgame I was stunned by the lack of content, and meaningful story develpment in that small bit of content. As for the ending... I was stunned by how terrible it was. It felt like the writers literally gave up and had interns finish the story for them. The Witcher 3 was 10x better and obviously written by better people.
I wanted to love this game, and there are a lot of things to enjoy here, specifically the city and side missions, but this game is half-baked at best. Needed months, maybe years of story development and technical tweaking.
Just finished the game, TBH the journey was a pain in the ass since at the moment it's literally flooded with bugs and inconsistencies all over the place (on PS4 Pro) : but DAMN this game should have been polished some more because the story is a masterpiece, especially the ending IMHO.
I've been playing the original tabletop RPG in my youth and it does really capture the essence of dystopian future in every aspects possible.
That's such a shame that it wasn't released in proper conditions and I really feel for the developers team.
Can't even possibly grant an appropriate mark yet since the overall immersion and experience is kinda ruined by its numerous flaws, and damn I hope appropriate time will be given for fixing bugs, improving driving physics, combat / crowd / cops AI, balance the loots, allow to ignore invading phone calls (and so on) while maybe slightly re-work part of the way quests are brought to the players' attention (my feeling is that some shouldn't have been explicitly pinned on the map and would have make the game even more immersive by being randomly found, greatly adding to the experience).
Hence the title : this game had everything required to be a masterpiece in its core, but definitely not in its current state. Deeply hope it will be given all the attention it deserves.
[EDIT] : apparently I have to mark it to be able to post.
p.s : if somebody knows where I can download the goodies, please let me know, I can't find where :)
