AFTER MANY YEARS DEVELOPMENT THE GAME IS STILL NOT FINISHED...some bug is really funny , a lot of details and function has been cut off...hope the follow updates can make it different:)
Preordered, wanting to support the published that never failed me before. Didn't install the game at all, knew it would be a mess on day one, wanted to wait for patches and finish up some other games. Looked at reviews, youtube videos, social media - game looks and feels atrocious. I have no desire to play it right now.
Furthermore, I have no desire to support practices in gaming industry that I find abhorrent - crunch time, releasing Early Access game while claiming it's a full release, possible expensive DLCs that would maybe patch the game and restore features that should've been in the game in the first place. I didn't knew this would happen with Cyberpunk 2077, and it is my fault for placing a blind trust into CDPR.
I have no evidence for this yet, but my hypothesis as of now is that someone, somewhere decided the game's gonna be launched in 6 months (maybe needed a new yacht or something), and developers had no choice but to wrap it up and release a highly unfinished product.
Anyway, issued a request for refund - hopefully GOG will oblige. Once (IF!) they patch the game, might pick it up again. Will probably cost a fraction of the full price at that time, anyway. I cannot give any recommendations since I haven't played the game - that would be very dishonest of me - except that I can encourage people to look at youtube playthroughs et al before investing into this game. See if you like it and if you can swallow the current issues. I cannot, I know in advance I wouldn't like it - too old to waste my time on unfinished games like this. It is what it is.
I completed the main story and many of the side quests. I enjoyed my time with Cyberpunk 2077. Yes, it's buggy. Yes, it's clearly unfinished. Yes, it's even a little broken. Okay, at times it's very broken. But I still had to know what happens next. CD Projekt Red have the best writers in the entire video games industry. As any RPG should, this game has great, lifelike characters and a story that's more focused and gripping than their previous games. And it's not just the story. For an RPG, this game really does have great combat. It can't quite hold a candle to a dedicated FPS such as Call of Duty, but there are plenty of opportunites to make it fun and exciting, especially as you spend more skill points and find better gear. I found the greatest disappointment to be the game world itself. Night City is wonderfully crafted and beautifully rendered. But it's lifeless. It's all superficial. Games from a decade ago or more, such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, have an open world that feels more alive. And the artificial intelligence on display in Cyberpunk 2077 is either poor or seemingly nonexistent. When I wasn't engaging with one of the stories, I was constantly reminded I wasn't in a real place. Still, I believe this is a game worth playing. There's a lot of bad, yes, but there's also so much good to be found.
Just adding to the chorus-- this is a bad game. That includes tech, gameplay, RPG elements, story elements, BUGS, controls on PC, writing and acting. Just about everything except artistic aspects like the sounds and visuals. Even if they fixt things and the game is actualy running as intended, its a dull, mediocre game at best.
Haven't been sucked into a gameworld like this in many many years.
It has finally filled a void and my gamerheart hasn't beaten like this,
since Syndicate -93 & System Shock -94.
