This is a terrible console port of a Watchdogs copy. Terrible controls, crashes every 5mins, bugs, bug, bugs and glitches, laughable design decisions and many more, all negative.
CDPR simply used Witcher's success to create a huge hype for a game that is currently unplayable. This is not the company that made the Witcher. It's just a bad mutation copying Bethesda's and Ubisoft's practices Even if this game gets fixed, it will remain a very average copy of Watchdogs. It's a bad RPG, a bad FPS, a terrible stealth game. I really don't what's good about this!
It is disgraceful to even put it in the same sentence as the Witcher! Save your money and spend it for a company that deserves it and doesn't lie to its customers.
CDPR and GOG just died for me.
Its the start of a good game, but it needs a lot of fixes before you should buy it. Characters T pose in combat, and even when they animate properly the combat AI regluarly get caught on walls or just stand by passivly. There are items you cant pick up, though they are just junk items, but its still a white cube to clutter the screen. The graphics unoptimized, I only drop to 30 frames per second on high compared to 40 running on low. with a I7-6700, GTX 1070, at 1080p, with some textures noticably lower quality compared to everything else.
Technical issues aside the mechanical issues also leave much to be desired. Clothing stores sell the same random bundle of clothes with no difference between high end and low end stores. You can't find a matching outfit, and your at the whims of what color of the item was generated with no way to select it. The same goes for basically all the vendors. Want to find a smart gun? Start wandering around, your as likely to find it at the heart of the city as you are from a rundown shop at the docks, and when you do be happy that you at least found it even if its a bright lemon yellow that hurts to look at.
Crafting needs to be reworked, as currently you can easily make money and xp just from buying and dissasembling soda.
Wait for a few dozen patches, just about every single aspect of the game needs to be debugged, and a few of them could use a rework.
This game is a massive disappointment. Extremely underwhelming and very shallow. The game isn't horrible, but it's below average at best. Seems like there was a lot of potential for this game, but the fact this took 8 years to develop and is this lackluster is pretty sad.
Overall, I've enjoyed the game so far. Gunplay could be a litter tighter, aiming just feels a litter wish-washy, kind of like trying to aim with a controller. As for driving, I’m always terrible at that regardless of the game, so all I’ll say about driving is: the cars need breaks. I’m pretty sure Arisaka’s aircraft carrier has a shorter stopping distance than the cars in NC.
Yes, there are a lot of glitches and bugs, but on the whole I've had nothing close to game-breaking and they are mainly irritating bugs such as not being able to loot some things despite aiming at them.
With all the hype surrounding ray tracing in this game, I’m disappointed there are no mirrors in the game (ok, there are, but you have to activate a cut scene to see yourself in them, they are not reflective ‘in game’ as it were). I AM pleased CDPR haven’t gone the route most people seem to with ray tracing of making EVERY surface in the game mirrored enough to see your reflection in.
Performance wise, I had no problem until I went to Lizzie’s bar, then I started getting a LOT of frame rate issues. Just in the ‘club’ areas though, once I went into the back with Everlyn it smoothed out again until I re-entered the club.
Between the menu UI, wishy-washy gunplay and a lack of configuration and key mapping options, this kind of feels like a cheap console port...
The timed dialogue options need to have longer timers, I CAN'T READ THAT FAST!
Personally, I think CDPR rushed to get the game released in 2020 because of the source material. I think they would have been MUCH better off waiting until now to send their 'beep' Tweet and begin their marketing campaign. This would have given them another year or two to actually get the game finished.
Tweeting Beep now would have given the developers time to finish the game properly while the marketing department got the hype train going, that way by the time the game was ready for launch interest in and anticipation for the game would be at its height.
If you play this game as a linear, somewhat action game (ala Uncharted), then maybe you can enjoy yourself and appreciate the storyline.
However there are glaring issues. And I won't even mention the performances here (I have a decent rig):
- Open world is boring, with your actions having no consequences
- Police or people do not chase you down or react differently if you save them
- No rebind possible (French keyboard and have to deal with the "z" menu popup that can appear when you level up or receive a message)
- No real choice ala Mass Effect. I'm corpo and it's just few lines added, nothing more.
- Driving is ice skating like in NHL
- Melee has no weight or impact. Yes I manage to play it but it's unsastisfying
- Looting is very bad. You cannot upgrade easily so wy bother crafting?
- UI and menus are cluttered. It's a real pain finding where to go (even the navigation system does not bring you precisely where you ping)
I could go on but I'll stop. The game tries to do too many things and ultimately fails. You know to which other game it looks like? Star Citizen. Instead of focusing on few gameplay aspects, you end up with numerous half-done mechanics that hinder the game.
I'm sure it would have been a GOTY if they sticked to a linear open world like Deus Ex
