Cyberpunk 2077

The quick version. Is Cyberpunk 2077, from a gameplay & story perspective, a good game? Yes. Do I recommend buying it? No. As it stands right now there are just too many issues and unfortunately the response to some of those have been quite poor. Once the huge selection of bugs have been taken care of the game will be up at 4 stars, however some mechanical changes would have to be made to get it up to 5 stars. 1. Fix the harmful perks Perks like Auto-dismantle & knife throw are less than useless, they are active drains on you. Auto-dismantle doesn't discriminate between standard junk items, junk items designed for sale, and unique junk items; it just scraps them all for the standard amount of crafting components. I didn't even know this was a thing till people mentioned it. A new char using the sellable items has way less money problems. Knife throw is how you lose a legendary knife for no reason. 2. Allow us to change our character's look & object looks in-game. You can't even get tattoos or change your hairstyle. Further "Style is everything in night city" but I'm forced into weird piecemeal armor if I want good stats & mods, and I can't make my gun match my outfit. 3. Better weapon customization. Mods & sights are cool and all but that's basically where the customization ends. Muzzles are just for silencers and only good if your doing stealth as they reduce your damage and that's it. No Magazine types, no stock changes, no compensators, nada. 4. More weapons. Maybe its because I'm more of a Shadowrun guy then a Cyberpunk guy when it comes to the board games and such, but I like having a bunch of weapon choices. Dialing in on the perfect combo of looks, function, and feeling is great but you don't get that here. You want to use automatic pistols? you've got one option. Assault rifles? One burst fire, two full autos. Machine guns? One light, one heavy. Everything past that is either special gear or just higher level versions with limited special abilities.

Let me start with: If you have 0 expectations because you didn't follow this game and/or watched any marketing material, then buy it and you'll have a blast. Ignorance is bliss after all. + The story is great albeit is too short with the feeling of time passing by without time jumps and too often unfinished business which results in vagueness if not plotholes. + Gameplay is fun and satisfying. + Graphics and music is jaw dropping good, sound are good but requires bit more work. - RPG elements and features are lacking if not completely missing. - PC keybinds missing, cant disable doubletap dodge - Balance and difficulty is all over the place, game is too easy on hardest difficulty, AI is accurate enough but doesn't use enough "tools" in combat, stealth is too easy because of generous openings, player can easily boost their damage trough the roof, main story feels less epic because enemies don't scale as high as other enemies outside. - Bugs, lack of polish Hopefully CDPR will fix this and add more contents...but it will take time.

(Keep in mind the date of this review as this issue might get fixed in a future patch, although CDPR used the words "might get fixed" in their first official response themselves, which they changed later on. I'll try to change, or delete this review when this happens) At the time of writing it has come to the attention of the community that every PC player will experience one nasty bug if they try to do everything this game offers, like crafting a bunch or looting everything. >Savegamefiles come with a sizelimit of 8MB.< You go over that, congratulations, now this Save is broken. You're trying to load an earlier save and continue playing from there? Nope, savegame-sizes steadily increase over time (sometimes by up to 500KB), and rarely decrease by maybe 1 or 2 KB. So your playthrough is broken forever. Honestly, at this point I don't even feel like starting a playthrough, like, what's the point?

Life paths have no meaningful impact on the game, they only add flavour dialog this has a major impact on the replaybility of the game. The AI is bare bones, in combat enemies will just sit there while you take your sweet time head shooting them, police spawn out of the thin air and don't react to gun fire from gangs shooting over their heads. theirs’s no police car chases either. No bounty hunters, max-tac coming after you which was promised. Where is the branching quests that where promised by CD PROJEKT RED . Crafting Is imbalanced and unrewarding. Upgrading weapons only offer a small increase in damage and becomes ridiculously expensive. This feature was meant to allow the player to keep their favourite guns but is not even remotely balanced for this. Hacking is overpowered which is not helped by the dumb AI and the minigame itself becomes very tedious. The perk tree is all over the place. some give 50% extra headshot damage while others give 3% extra damage. a lot of the icons don't match what the perk provides. it is full of padding. Driving is a mess, the POV when driving first person is messed up you can barely see over the steering wheel. breaking is almost none existent. you are blinded by daylight when driving first person, this is more common in the Badlands. The arm augmentations which where advertised as game changing like gorilla arms allowing you force open doors is no longer a feature though the item description is still there. Their is way too much loot for example, guns can be found with different levels, skins, rarity this end up making the inventory a nightmare to organise. It would have made more sense to find the gun with a standard skin and allow the player customise it ourselves. Leveled guns and armour means you are constanly changing guns I think I spent most of my time going through my inventory. Bugs everywhere, The more you play you begin to relise just how hollow the game is.

Lots of people have already discussed the multiple problems in this game and failed promises from the marketing team. Honestly, the game was pretty and all but felt hollow. The world was great but you couldn't interact with the world around you, it was just set dressing. The story was very much this "on the rails" experience where you didn't get a lot of freedom/choices. The really isn't strong RPG elements or an immersive open world. Cyberpunk also just lacks some basic functionality, such as decent AI, etc. I also would've greatly appreciated better controls and remappable keybindings. I am waiting for my refund.
