Cyberpunk 2077

You can tell this game is not finished. So many glitches, so many deleted content and what I miss the most: cutscenes! The story maybe good, but always seeing this from first person gets boring really quick, especially if there are long conversations. I really tried to get along with it, but as soon as I´m standing in the wrong place (again) and another NPC just walks right trough me, this so called Immersion is gone for me. The dialog system... how I hate those standard repetetive "What is wrong with you? Why don´t you answer me?" responses, if I don´t choose my dialog options quick enough. If I run trough the city for 5 Minutes, I garantuee you, I´ll pass the same fat person in his orange Jacket 3 times minimum! And they all have something to say and it´s always inappropriate or utter nonsense. I was so sure, this game will be awesome, coming from the Masterminds behind The Witcher. This game is just boring, sorry -.- CDPR was the only Dev I had trusted blindly, but learning that they deliberately lied about content and technical status of the game... well...

Cyberpunk 2077 must be grateful for all the comical glitches as they distract from one hardly patchable problem this game faces: the story lacks soul and meaningful choices. Biggest offender was the very first mission. I chose Nomad, expecting a slow introduction to the city. Yet after not even one hour in, a sudden montage happened showing how my V became a mercenary. Erm, I wanted to play that? I expected an origin story more reminiscent of Drag Age: Origins, not the lazy Drage Age 2 approach. My origin only pops up to add some throwaway lines during conversations. It doesn't meaningfully change the narrative. It's especially jarring in companion quests as they all play out the same flirty way even if one is not their type. As a side-effect of the rushed intro, I don't know any of that backstory from my own character in Night City. (If you showed me the map of NC, I wouldn't know where my apartment is at. No worries, you don't need to go there at all.) I attended the funeral "of a close friend" yet I did not know those people -- yet apparently I should care for them? Why? It would have helped if I did some quests for them first to get to know them. The main story goes by fast and the whole Cyberpunk background feels underused. Contrary to the intent, the forced first person breaks my immersion. Witcher 3 had great almost cinematic cutscenes (Beach fight in the Heart of Stone expansion!) In first person, I am the camera now but I am also a very bad camera operator. I also have lost count of how many conversations I remained crouched in due to the fact that skipping dialogue and crouching are mapped on the same button. I would even go as far as to insinuate the forced first person was done to cut costs during cutscenes. Most dialogues are pretty dull due to that and it's a huge downgrade from Witcher 3. There is no point in creating your own character as you won't see yourself much. (I've got more to criticize but I have to little characters left ...)

1 hour of gaming you still speaking with people, no gunshots, no interactions, nothing....just long and forever chats. I was really excited about this game but this is boring as hell!

Ugh. I actually really like the game. I've played it once and was doing another playthrough, but 1.5 patch has totally borked it. Won't even launch. Tried a fresh install, no go. Where is quality control with CDPR?!

Cyberpunk 2077 is still far from what was marketed but has in many aspects improved. The bugs that were more often game breaking than annoying is now more akin to the Bethesda games, fun at intervals but sometimes still bothersome. It is still not the open world marvel that people expected, where you'd lose yourself in the intrigue of different systems, unique to this game and world. Rather it is straight forward and quick to introduce what your possibilities are in the game, which overall isn't all that much in an open world sense and repetitive. The story itself is very engaging and very well executed. Perhaps a bit short due to the lack of “openworldness” that the game inevitably was going to have, to slow down the story progression and take it at intervals. I've always been more of a story focused player, and don't look for all the venues that an open world game is supposed to bring. For me the game was a fantastic ride that I may one day return to, once they've added more content. The game is, however, not the game people thought they were buying and is still not that now. But it is playable and with promises of further investment and development into the game, you can be sure that it will improve in all categories.
