Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
The game looks absolutely stunning, great to look anywhere everywhere you go.
But it is not the RPG we were told, Choices don't matter, only extra voice lines but results are all the same except first maelstrom mission.
There is no replayability as all lifepaths are basically the same too..
Really disappointed it feels this empty and shallow.
Some stories are good tho. But also not as deep as you'd think this genre could get.
If they don't change it back to it's original rpg route i'm afraid there is no hope
tl;dr If you haven't bought Cyberpunk 2077 yet, don't. If you have, consider a refund. Go play something good instead, like "Devotion"
The long version? I waited 10 years for Cyberpunk 2077. It needed 11 or 12.
The developer, CDPR, misrepresented the game in everything they showed to the public and the press. CDPR knew CP77 needed more dev time. They knew it didn't run well on any hardware and it didn't run at all on old gen consoles. CDPR knew all of this when they had reviewers sign pre-launch NDAs.
CDPR said they didn't use "crunch", a disgusting abuse of people resulting from developers refusing to hire staff and take time to make what they are promising. CDPR have still failed to own up to those lies or agree to stop ban "crunch".
CDPR endangered streamers' livelyhoods with a broken "no DMCA" mode. They endangered people's health with content that could cause seizures in people playing or watching. CDPR touted gay and trans identities in playable characters, then didn't make sex, attraction, gender (or anything, really) a meaningful part of the game. CP77 is a game where picking up trash and tediously dissasembling it is a core part of gameplay, unless you burn a Trait to skip that "gameplay mechanic."
Other great features? Unusable vehicle controls, no key remapping, crowds of nonsensically cowering NPCs, teleporting police, unstable FPS (even on good PC hardware), pointless character customization, no cover or stealth mechanics, etc.
This game looks beautiful and I can see potential greatness...if CDPR finishes it. Until then, don't buy CP77. If you already have consider the following question: Did you spend your money to purchase hype and an empty developer promise in exchange for your money?
Me? I expect a finished, as advertised, game.
If CP77 is ever completed I'll come back and take a look. Maybe CDPR will pull a NMS but more likely this is another Anthem.
For now I'll go play "Devotion." I've heard that game is great, and also finished!
Ill try focus as few as possible about the bugs as that has already been talked a lot before and personally they were annoying but not such a big deal to me.
The unacceptable:
The lying: Compared to the 48 min. trailer of 2018, this game is vastly different in a bad way as in a lot of the features presented are not in the game, you don't even have to check a video that far back because the november 2020 gameplay trailer barely shows real gameplay, the netrunning part of the trailer shows the flathead's section which is a scripted scene at the beginning of the game and not something you can do somewhere else
The support of the game, currently there is game breaking bug with the save files of the game, and CD Projekt's response to it was to play the game less, that you try to fix it and that the bug might be or not get fixed in the future.
This leads me to believe that they don't care about the state of the game, some people claim they will rise from the ashes like No Man's Sky did but based on this response, I doubt it
The Good:
The main story and the big side quests for the most part are good and enjoyable but if you were expecting something like the Bloody Baron or Hearths of Stone this is not it.
Keanu as Johnny I thought he did a good job although some lines were a bit monotonous for the scene presented, still it was a treat every time he showed up.
Night City is beautiful and very well detailed, every place I went to, be it on the main or side story, were different in layout and presentation
The Bad:
It's not an rpg, choices are mostly meaningless
The gameplay is very basic, the gun play is fun but it's simplistic, as for the stealth I felt it was barely there, on my playthrough I did not have points in the stealth tree but still managed to stealth through a lot of parts of the game because the AI does not react to sound and barely to sight
There's no need for gear customization due to the game being a looter shooter that scales to your level
