Overpromised and Underdelivered

The game in its current state is riddled with bugs but besides that it's just not what was promised. Sure it's still fun but there are so many things missing which were promised and so many things which one would take for granted are horribly executed. Nomad, Corpo or Street Kid? Doesn't matter, just the 30min in the beginning are different, has no effect at all. Traffic AI is horrible. Police AI is horrible. NPC AI is horrible. If you stick to the main story you'll be (mostly) fine but don't play outside the "script" or the immersion will be broken instantly. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. I could go on about how this isn't really an RPG. How your character customization doesn't matter while playing or in the story or how the diolog options are lacking and often badly written. Oh and get used to a call every 5 minutes from someone who you should know but was never really introduced. There will be no emotional connection to any character because the story seems to have been cut drastically. This was supposed to be a revolutionary, ground-breaking game which would change the genre and push it further. Just a few months ago this and similar statements were made by the developers on twitter and in interviews. This game is nothing of the sorts. It mixes GTA 3 (yes 3) witch RPG elements like Assassins Creed Odyssey and adds known elements from The Witcher 3. Oh and it doesn't mix it very well. Wait until the bugs are fixed, play the main story and maybe the side quests and sure you'll have fun, but don't expect anything new, exciting or "ground-breaking". You'll just be disappointed by what CDPR has delivered here... after all their promises.

Biggest disappointment of 2020 in gaming

You were hyped and could not wait to play this game as there was no way after all these delays, CDPR's PR reputation & gamer-based approach this will flop? Yeah? Well, do yourself a solid and skip this for now or it might heavily impact your story experience. Before you buy this try to do your research on bugs if they have been fixed or what are left - I am saying that because they influenced my playthrough EXTREMELY HEAVILY - I am not talking about game-breaking bugs as they have been rare for me but because immersion breaking ones were so insanely common to the point where they have been overlapping each other. Not to some of the barebones systems which I hope will be seriously improved - looking at you, NCPD. Now that I have played through the full story there is a huge amount of distaste left as I wanted to immerse myself in this world but I simply couldn't because I had to reload my game tens of times just to get important bit and/or cutscene to be played out like it was supposed to. I have no doubts that everything will be ironed out and patched down the way but this is an enormous slap in the face to all supporters and consumers, especially in Xmas period, where this was supposed to be a monumental step in gaming history. Words cannot describe how disappointed and tricked I feel.

What on earth were CPDR thinking?

The bugs will be fixed but the underlying game is fundamentally flawed, and without complete overhaul is plainly no where near what was promised by CDPR. The game feels cheap and nasty, an empty shell pushed out early notwithstanding a number of delays. The pedestrian and citizen AI for example is not even comparable to GTAIII, a game released in 2001. The game is shallow and superficial. There is no character development beyond a generic skill tree and choices made in game are almost meaningless. This game is a complete failure by CPDR management, not the CPDR developers who I am sure have worked incredibly hard to get the game to this level, and it shows. The main story is the reason I didn't give CDPR 1 star.

Identity Crisis 2077

After playing 24 total hours in this game and giving it more than a fair shake, I've decided that I can't recommned this game to anyone. I don't think I have ever played a video game with such a glaring case of identity crisis than Cyberpunk 2077. This game puts in front of me a massive open world packed with buildings and people and yet I don't feel rewarded when I interact with any of it. The whole entire time I'm playing this game I'm plagued with the question "Who are you, and why do I care about you?" People you've never met before will call you on your phone, ask you for a favor, and then send you text messages about other random bullshit without ever even meeting face to face. I feel like I have no identity in my character, I feel like the choices I make don't really have any impact, and it seems like when I do try and make a choice it just ends up being made for me by the story. There are certain doors you can't get through or areas you can't get to in this game if you don't build into tech skill/body which further takes away from any meaningful choice. It almost seems like CDPR wrote the story first, conducted all the cutscenes, and then made a game to fill in the voids. The game ironically being the least interesting part of this video game. The only reason this gets two stars in my opinion is because of the story keeping a tight grip on my interest and a projection of "what could be" if some things in society go unchecked. The broken stealth mechanics, the boring gunplay, dirt-stupid AI, and glaringly optimal build paths (body) just make me wish they released this video game as a cut-scene movie and called it. No one even needs to mention the bugs and glitches that are laden throughout this game and consistently break immersion due to idle voice lines interrupting important main story dialogue. CDPR gave us this big, beautiful world and said you can look but not touch. Play the main story line, and do chores along the way. I'm bored and sad.
