Patch 1.5 is a good sign!
I played when the game released. I had such high hopes from all the hype built up around the game leading up to launch. After completing my first playthrough back in 2020, I was extremely disappointed. The story, great, but all the missing features, content, and oh ya, bugs, were just too much for me. I got through the main story, gave it a 1-star review, and set it down, thinking I wouldn't be back. After not paying attention to the game since I finished back in 2020, I saw the buzz about patch 1.5, so I decided to reinstall and give it another shot. I am on my second playthrough since launch and am thoroughly enjoying the game. Although the game is still far from what was advertised the years leading up to initial release, it is miles better. There is a caveat to this though! I have installed multiple mods to make the experience that much better. I think the game would be okay without the mods, but the quality-of-life improvements the mods bring, are just amazing! The underappreciated mod community is what keeps this game afloat in my opinion. Keep it up guys and gals of the mod community! I hope CDPR keeps putting out updates and fixes like this. This is a good sign that they are still committed to this game and want to make what they initially wanted to put out? I am still skeptical, and my faith in CDPR is still very lacking, but this is a good sign! Look forward to more!

Why is it constantly crashing?
As a HUGE fan of the witcher games and especially Witcher 3, I figured after almost a few years CD PROJEKT RED would have their ducks in a row after the big 1.5 patch and i'd finally give the game a shot. So far I am enjoying it alright except for the random crashes that keep happening. I can't help but wonder if the corpos got to the beloved company I once found them to be, and because of deadlines and over-delivery promises they lost their way. Again I figured after their fall from grace that things would be at least back on track and I wouldn't have expected to have a game that constantly crashed on me.. failed promises of what the game was "supposed" to be aside. I'd love to change my review once I'm actually able to play the game as I'm only past the first mission with a few side missions in so far.

Not what was promised
The game is not what CDPR and the marketing material promiosed it to be. Instead of a true living city sandbox filled with details and activitys we got a rather linear story with not much else to do in the city except for some (for the most part) uninspired sidequests. Decisions you make in the game have next to no impact on the quests or the story, the combat system is very basic and the progression is bland and boring. Very disappointed.

Just not what the game should've been.
This game hurts to play and think about, I wanted it to be my next Skyrim, where I could lose myself for 1000+ hours roleplaying my character the way I want in a dystopian cyberpunk world. The gameplay loop can be fun. but everything else is just lacking. The story is so lazor focused on getting you to the next set peice, it forgets to take the time to get to know the characters. Johnnies sudden change from "I'm gonna kill you" to "I want you to live" was very jarring, it plays like it expects me to trust and respect him straight away after, but give no reason as to why I can trust him. The build up of your freindship with Jackie and working to become respected Mercs is done in a montage, ( Why can't I play that six months, doesn't even have to be the fuull six months. I just want more time than one mission and suddenly im in the "Big Leagues" The city is empy, it looks pretty, but its only skin deep. As soon as you try to interact with it, the game fulls apart as you can't. The veriaty of jobs or how to do jobs is lacking. and no recurring jobs. you clear the markers on the map and then you got nothing left. But the story doesn't want you doing side missions, as doing side missions freels like a complete waste of time when "YOUR DYING!" Needless to say, I'm not hopeful this game can be saved. Not without a New Game Plus Mode, where I play through it with the story turned off. But the story is only part of the problem, there are too many, and most if not all still need huge amounts of work doing to them.
