Cyberpunk 2077

The popularity and hype surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 can likely be attributed to its setting. We've all longed for a dystopian, futiristic open-world with colour and grit (in contrast to Fallout 4's dull hues). Essentially, we were looking for Blade Runner: The Game and that's partially what we got. Unfortunately, the RPG elements promised by CDPR are not fleshed out. The core mechanics of the game are basic, outdated and have already been done and exceeded by other studios. This is a shallow, basic action game with a lick of neon paint over it and dose of false attitude. It's not the RPG we wanted and not the one we deserved. I also had to pay for the game twice as it didn't work on PS4. Cannot get a refund from Sony so have now spent €130 on this game.

Many bugs, poor performance but I expect these to be fixed soon. What really bugs me is seemingly cut content / features no fleshed out enough. Weapon customization is severely lacking, no way to change V's apperance later, life paths don't as well as dialog choices don't matter AT ALL, everything leads to the same results. Open world is huge and stunning but lacks interactivity. NPCs might as well not be there. The only way you'll interact with them is by accidentally running them over (poor vehicle controls). Minimap too zoomed in to be useful. Enemies are too spongy - I get this is more RPG like but unloading several magazines into a random plebs head while most of the other ones die with one shot kinda breaks immersion. I could go on like this for probably a solid 30 minutes... somewhere under this huge mess of bugs, glitches, bad decisions and cut content lies one of the best games ever. Let's hope CDPR doesn't only fix the bugs but also adds a LOT of content and fleshes out the existing stuff. Otherwise this will never feel like a finished game.

The experience of playing this game falls very short of what was promised in the promotional material leading up to its release. It is clear that much content was cut out. The bugs, the AI (or lack thereof), the lack of meaningful interactions or choices, all of these things have already been pointed out in lots of other reviews. I am glad that I have the hardware to play the game on maximum graphics quality though, because at least the city is amazingly detailed and hauntingly beautiful, even in its dystopian ugliness. I am a huge fan of Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell, and also vaporwave music. I love walking around Night City (with a controller, because using a keyboard I cannot *not* run (the awkward keyboard controls are another example of the lack of polish) with some vaporwave music in the background. I really have to give the world designers credit for their work in this game, because it absolutely nails the atmosphere present in the aforementioned movies and music style. Perhaps it is only fitting that there is no interaction to be had with any people in the city (other than one of the few standard lines of dialogue that they repeat over and over): loneliness and alienation is a defining characteristic of the cyberpunk and vaporwave genre. This game is style over substance: A beautifully crafted world that is squandered by bog standard gameplay.

Game generally gives off an unfinished, buggy and released-way-to-early-for-christmas-business vibe. NPCs don't react if you steal from them or throw things at them, and generally behave immersion-breakingly dull. The police spawning mechanism is beyond silly. Absolutely unbelievable and immersion-breaking. Undestroyable cars (no matter how much the damage) and suddenly magically self repairing cars also feel wrong. Collision detection is buggy in all aspects and places of the game. Pickup-able items (consumables, with an icon and description and so on) sometimes cant be picked up from the floor.

The game is complete trash full of bugs. Sure, enviromenet is amazing, but everytime you quit game you have to adjust your settings again, because its set into default mode. So change langue, change graphic options. Not mentioning that sometimes when you change langue the game crash. I really regret buying this game, if devs release game in this state. Next time I wount spent money on something like this. Thanks CD Project. Played 6hours so far and did not enjoyed. Not worth the money (at least PC version). Wait few months for purchase, dont buy now. Iam really sad and mad that game like this was released in complete unplayable state.
