It pains me, but this isn't a good game

I was expecting an Adult, philosophical, and in-depth RPG. My computer isn't great: i5-4460/12gb RAM/1050ti(4gb)-it plays (just barely)(beyond the bugfest). I bought it on release day and have not yet conpleted it,with 70+ hours played. I've deleted it, incomplete. --- Possible Spoiler below: I did a rescue mission in the dessert, escaped a complex with the hostage, undetected, and then the mission marker disappeared. The hostage wouldn't enter the vehicle amidst a brutal sandstorm, so i got in another vehicle and the hostage followed me. I proceeded to complete several side-quests with that hostage. We fought many-a-firefight together and shared some intimate moments (he was present when i was using (the laughable) prostitute(s). I was disappointed that after about 20 hours of being together I couldn't proposition him for sex-Spoiler over. --- The aforementioned sandstorm persisted for the remaining 20 hours of my playthrough. +Night City looks like an incredible place +Written NPC's are very life-like and the dialogue (though worthless) can sometimes feel "real". -Night City is the most hollow, transparent, empty wasteland and then there's the dessert (half of which prevents you from traversing) -City NPC behaviour is s***,no interaction with anybody outside missions/no random encounters or unscripted deviations.Driving NPC's are the worst I've seen in a modern game. -Too many filler-missions: allow the player to experience the map, don't overwhelm from the get-go. -I would have preffered to have came upon the side content (police missions) myself rather than the map littered with everything, and level specific. -Bugfest: I still haven't experienced the racing missions because like a lot of the content in the game, the god-damn mission marker doesn't f'king work. I strove to find/ buy a fast car for the races and then realised,it had nothing to do with the car i was driving to start the mission, it just wasn't working. -The inventory and loot system is CRAP

The game is incomplete yet beautiful.

I write this review in an attempt to let the devs know how I percieved this game and perhaps they will use it as a small guidance to the next dlcs or games or who knows maybe improve the actual game. Ignoring the bugs, glitches and performance issues the game feels incomplete but somehow beautiful and depressing at the same time There are many events that are lacking some dialogues, cutscenes and options that could have potantially raise the storyline even higher than the Witcher 3. There are also weapons and clothing that even if you get to a higher level they look the same, the witcher 3 had sets...perhaps there was not enough time. When I heard that the game will only be first person mode view only...I had a bad feeling that could turn out ugly, despite that I still bought the game at launch day, despite being from a thirld world country and was in no position to afford it. The Witcher 1, 2 and 3 had cinematic camera and it was perfect...it is impossible for me to understand why renounce something that was perfected so well over the years only to try and force the players to see from fps perspective which it did not bring the same emotions which I've experienced in the witcher series. Perhaps if there was enought time maybe the same cinematic events could have been implemented and shuffle them with fps to indeed create magic moments in the storyline of the game. Despite all of this the game has a beautifull story and memorable characters even with the missing elements, however there are certain parts of the story that could have been turn into something very beautifull if there were more dialouge options, cutscenes and more options to interact with, even the witcher 1 had more interactions with important npcs than this game ...but I understand that more time was needed to finish the game. I apologize on behalf of the people that threathen the devs and forced the game out in an incomplete state.

Disappointing

Can't recommend the game in it's current state to anyone. It has plenty of technical problems, hard to go a few seconds without characters or items glitching out. But then there's all the things this game was sold as that have been ditched, it's barely more of an "RPG" than GTAV. I really hope they stick with this game and put some serious work into it over the coming years, because it has so much potential.

Over hyped and underwhelmed

What a huge disappointment this game is. From creating probably the best RPG ever with the Witcher 3 and using that good will to cash in on a half baked game. While the story is somewhat interesting but as a whole its really shallow. No matter which life path you choose in the begining your V will act the same in every situation with very little reason to go back and replay. Only difference is you get a few different lines of dialogue and the game will progress the same no matter what. The AI in this game isnt even a thing. NPC's just spawn into view like they are Nightcrawler from the X-men. The police system is laughable as in they just spawn in after you commit a crime even after the so called "fix". GTA 5 which came out on the PS3 and Xbox 360 has a way better AI system and the police system seems next gen compared to this game. You want to customize your V and put cool looking cosmetic cyberpunk accessories on? Nah dude, only customization you're doing is swapping clothes. Want to go get new tattoos or maybe a new haircut or anything at all? Nah dude, you're stuck with what you made in the character creator. Want to customize that cool car you just bought randomly in a parking lot? Nah dude, it's staying the way it is. All the Characters in the game are forgettable. You get pretty much all your quests by them calling you and telling you what to do. You won't be getting much face time at all with the fixers so don't blame yourself if you forget who people are in your phone. You won't care about anyone you meet because alot of the time you barely even see them. You'll be doing a mission and you might not even really know why you are even doing it and who for because you don't remember anybody. But hey at least you get taken out of the experience when wooden Keanu Reeves keeps popping up to say some things and disappear. We all know he's overrated but he's a nice guy! Overhyped and pushed out to fast. Wanted to love it but its meh. Last pre-order ever.

A confused mess

I purposefuly avoided the hype, news and leaks around this game. Witcher 3 blew me away, so this one should, too, right? It thoroughly disappointed after just 2 hours of gameplay - that's the full intro and an hour spent "freeroaming" Night City. This game is tagged as role-playing, but there's no role play to be had here. Your influence on the goals and actions of the protagonist is negligible - you can say the smirky option A, smirky option B, or stay silent. You can't change V's ultimate goal, his aspiration. You can't even customise his appearance all that much: neither in character creation, nor during gameplay. Mechanics are all over the place. Shooting is OK, but you're shooting at bullet sponges. Melee is completely overpowered and AI doesn't stand a chance (as long as it doesn't massively outlevel you). Hacking minigame is engaging, but the results of hacking are incosistent (I can hack something to distract a guard standing right next to it and he just won't react). Part of the game loop is looting, which was a terrible choice. Ultimately this is a shooty-looty, where you constantly hot-swap weapoons for the latest "ebin drop XD" English writing is mediocre, on par, nothing to write about. The story structure is just horrendous. You're railroaded terribly, forced to follow events in sequence and you better read the devs' minds and not deviate from the path, lest you get a game-breaking bug. Parts of the UI, especially the inventory, in which you will spend a lot of time, are terrible to navigate and make important info hard to read. At least I wasn't getting game-breaking bugs on my system, although a fair share of broken pathing, objects hanging in the air, and T-posing happened. This game is NOT worth its pricetag, and I doubt it will be, even after bug fixes and discount.
