Ever since game was updated to 2.0 it's been randomly crashing. Sometimes it crash at certain scene or menu, sometimes it crashes out of nowhere. I've tried completely re-installing the game, updated graphics driver, cleaned DirectX shader cache, and tweaked as many settings as I humanly could to try to get the game to run stable. It still randomly crash and sometimes it crash in a sequence of mission where I can't save, so I end up replaying the sequence multiple times hoping it doesn't crash this time so I can save the game and progress. I thought, after 3 years the game would be polished and ready to play, but no, even after 3 years, and a paid DLC, the game is still broken.
You have to suspect CDPR is in financial difficulty because even after all these agonizing delays 2077 is still an unfinished, unoptimized mess that needed at least another 6-8 months of work. The problems are legion:
First of all 2077 won't even run on the PC of my spouse. No error, just instantly closes the game executable. Their PC more than meets the Minimum Requirements and is closer to Recommended but nothing I do changes this no-load behavior. It's ridiculous. I worked on it for over 3 hours, tried every single solution offered by GOG/CDPR, tried every single reasonably sane idea I found on the forums, and finally I just gave up. I never made any progress or even got any error messages.
2077 loaded on the first try on my gaming rig, which is bizarre because it is almost identical to the spouse machine that won't even start the game. I got in, set up all my options (graphics mostly defaulted to High/Ultra), and created my character.
Character creation isn't a great experience because there's an annoying bug where rotating V to see different angles causes the list view of categories to reset to the very top of the list. Considering the list has like 50 entries and you then have to scroll back down and find where you were at, after this happens a few dozen times you really start to get annoyed.
Eventually character creation was finally completed, the game then loaded up the Nomad intro for my character.
The very first scene looking in the mirror was giving me about 4-5 fps. On a GTX 1080 SC.
I started lowering settings one at a time to find out which setting(s) were the killer but eventually gave up and just reset the entire graphics to the lowest possible options.
This gave me about 12 fps.
I then ALT-F4'd, probably losing my character in the process but who the **** cares because I'm not going to be able to play 2077 anytime soon.
Thanks for the preorder 30% coupon for CDPR gear in the store guys, I can't wait to show you how much I love 2077.
I wanted to support the devs and give 5 stars, because I really enjoyed this game. But Adam Badowski used "9/10 and 10/10" ratings to defend the end product that was obviously not ready (not even counting the stuff that were cut). And words like "out when it's ready" or "gone gold" were obviously not true. And they KNEW console versions were not ready.
I do not want my 5/5 rating to be used to defend their mistakes.
Too many things have gone wrong for them to use "10/10" ratings, especially the marketing bluff ones, to defend the end product. Everyday I believe less and less this is going to be a No Man's Sky redemption situation.
Since this is a AAA title the graphics and the size of the open world is pretty good, that being said that was about the only good thing about the game.
BUGS:
There are Very many bugs starting from small funny things
IE: you move out of the room and the person keeps talking
Some bigger things
IE: 2 people call you at the same time and their dialouges/your replys run at the same time
And some really annoying ones
IE: Your weapon dissapears at the beginning of the final fight and you have to switch weapons to get it back.
COMBAT:
They tried to mix melee and gun combat but havent done so successfully. There is no interacting between them so why even have both. You either kill a melee before it reaches you or die very quickly. Tougher melee enemies feel near unbeatable with ranged weapons and very uninteractive. (Lowered my difficulty because it was very unfun)
CRAFTING:
Its cool that you can craft your own gear. But its not a revolutionary idea and its not done well. Pretty far into the game I discovered in-game info that says the crafted items stats depend on your engineering level. But there is no info how much per level or that it increases it at all. The recepies that you get always show the same numbers but you get different outcomes when you finish the craft.
QUESTS:
Quests are actually pretty interesting and sidequest storylines go for more than 1-2 quests so you can discover new questlines that werent marked "BIG QUESTLINE HERE". That said the main questline had a huge build-up and a lackluster ending.
TL/DR: I would not buy this game at its current state even if it was -50%. It looks like the cut the playtesting funding and people who purchased the "full release" payed to playest their game.
Cyberpunk is missing a lot of features and polish for a full price release.
Bugged animations, physics, and other issues on top of missing features and basic game play elements considered standard in other titles in the genre make for a lack luster experience.
Broken and missing AI features. NPCs can become permanently cowered when firing a weapon and won't change until the game is reloaded. Lack of vehicle/NPC driving AI.
Unable to customize or steal vehicles.
Clothing customization is nonexistent, Maxing out your armor results in goofy clothing combos.
Lack of impact from character prologues and story choices. The main story plays out nearly the same regardless of your playstyle. Characterization is fast-paced and shallow, resulting in painstaking interaction with the main cast.
All of the interesting action was skipped at the end of the prologue in a montage.
This game is unfinished and should not have been released in this state.
