After all this time I gave it another try, can't even progress any further because of a gaming breaking bug that was there from the start and was claimed to be fixed, but there are still lots of people encountering it.
Truly disappointed by now.
It seems like they have been removing or towning down graphical options with every major patch and there is no justifiable reason for it.
The game used to look great and ran perfectly fine on any newer mid - high range pc.
Just reinstalled it today after a 6ish month hiatus and the game now looks like absolute garbage even with everything turned to max.
I am not even sure this can legally be considered the same product i paid for anymore.
All reflective surfaces are gone and all the npcs suddenly look like poorly drawn cartoons.
The formerly realistic(ish) textures all look like something out of a 10 year old console game.
The one saving grace of this game was how amazing the city and its crowds looked, which is all gone now.
I would refund this in a heartbeat if it were possible.
As far as i am concerned all the goodwill CDP has earned over the last decade has been squandered.
I waited what felt like a lifetime for this game to release, and when it did my PC had loads of issues with the game freezing and crashing. Within the first hour of gameplay and the prologue I encountered several immersion-breaking bugs and on at least 2 occasions bugs with NPC's that either died (but didn't) or go stuck behind walls - preventing progression and requiring a reload.
I found the world to be so pretty, but I was dissapointed that there was so so little that I could do with it. 99% of doors are locked and there's no way inside the vast majority of this city. Its residents are stupid and dont say anything and dont even react the way you would expect them to. Make a mistake or two and endless swarms of police just teleport in out of nowhere........wow............its just so hollow, and feels rushed. After all this time, it feels rushed!
There are moments to the story that are incredible. Particularly the parade mission feels AMAZING to be in and everything is pulled off so so well in this mission. It highlights how GOOD things COULD have been in this game. And so while I finsihed it, I dont know, I just fealt like there should have been so much more. There was a lot of opportunity lost with Cyberpunk, because I've now moved on, I'm not tracking updates, and I'm likely not coming back any time soon.
I reckon though that I might go back to the world of Red Dead Redemption Online. Guys, thats how you do it.
I'm not going to describe any technical issues nor bugs, beacuse I didn't encounter any, and even if I did, it wouldn't matter a thing. Technical stuff can be fixed relatively easy, while the conceptual core of the game - can't.
Starting this game for the first time I was expecting a solid cyberpunk experience that would top everything of this genre I played before despite some flaws. LOL. Not even close. The whole game is a one big flaw.
Character progression is totally broken and becomes more and more frustrating over time. At first, the XP collection seems fast and easy, but very soon you are starting to realise, that those mere few perk points you managed to collect are mostly useless, considering just how much of them are needed to max out a skill tree and how obsolete most of those skill trees are. I dropped this stupid MMO-like grind of "points of interest" at ~40% and still was nowhere near max level. Hell, I've seen some people complaining, that after 100% completion they couldn't reach the top.
The cyberpunk part of this Cyberpunk game is... Well, let's just say, there is almost no cyberunk in it. Save for the visual style, some edgy design choices, and probably irrelevant side chit-chats, there is absolutely no feeling of the dark cyberfuture where anyone can be almost anything they could possibly want. Having absolutely ZERO gameplay altering modifications for your character doesn't help.
Now to the story, the most praised and loved part of this game (judging by most Steam reviews and forum posts). The whole mess is based on a set of some solid, potentially deep ideas about life, death, humanity etc., but "potentially" is the keyword here. Basically, the whole main plot is a bunch of stupid actions performed by shallow characters, which causes more stupid stuff to happen, and then it just immideatly fades away with no consequences, except for those neccesary to kick the story forward.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a mediocrity at its finest in every aspect :(
The game could be soooo much better. The potential is huge.
Apart from the good idea and the look, it's just a disappointment.
- NPC dumb af
- Car steering/feedback just bad
- Quest bugs (e.g. Enemy is behind a door than CAN'T be opened
- Quest design (repetetive)
- Unfinished world/level design
