Cyberpunk 2077

As of patch 1.52 the game is in a much, much better state than at launch. However, there really isn't any reason to play, especially for it being full price. I pre-ordered it (which really, no one should EVER do) and I feel absolutely ripped off. Lets start with the important positives: - The premise of the story is good and some sidequests are very interesting - Night City is beautiful - The overall maturity of the quests and its themes is great The negatives: - Cut content: The story is too short, the characters aren't fully fleshed out, no meaningful choices (except for the end) -Night City isn't finished, no Monorail system, no public transport, no taxis (remember GTA 4 that had this a decade ago?), no leisure activities, districts like pacifica or arasaka waterfront are unfinished and barren. - No RPG Elements, no customization of guns or vehicles, armor stats are all over the place, style doesn't matter at all, you might as well run around naked cause nobody cares. - No proper Police chases or response, missed opportunities with Trauma Team response. - The driving phsyics are still not on par with what you get with GTA 5. Overall, unless major changes are done to this game I cannot recommend it. With the Monorail system being completely cancelled, I really do not have high hopes for the other cut content to be finished really. Still, it is a far cry from what was promised. Also, I recommend watching the Act Man's video on YouTube called "Why is Cyberpunk 2077 so bad?"

Man... I have just read the game synopsis on gog store page again, after finishing the game 100%. None of the things written above can be found in the game. The bugs in the game (at lest PC version) are of the least concern. This game unfortunately does not provide the AAA content. Short and shallow (yes!) story and bare bone outdated mechanics... I can't see how this can be fixed. Game needs total remake.

Bug fixes are great and this game needs them but the story of this game, how you interact with the world, how you customize your character and what you ultimately do as you control the protagonist are: Boring, repetitive, repetitive, pointless, mercurial, sophomoric, nihilistic, shallow, unoriginal The biggest sin this game commits though is that it's a bad rpg. If you want a compelling single player story driven experience then this game isn't for you and I don't think it ever will be.

Even if the game had not been tremendously hyped up, the result is a flabby, hollow game. I played for about six hours, set it down, and simply forgot to pick it back up. Games like these are my bread and butter; I love all the Bethesda games; I love cyberpunk; I love moral gray areas with complicated and painful choices; I love crime, first person shooters, and open world sandboxes. This fails to deliver on every single promise the game suggests it contains. Character customization is beautiful, but the creation screen looks very little like the in-game view. And since the game is entirely in first person, you'll rarely even see your character except at the inventory screen. Once you're in game, you can no longer customize anything about your character. No haircuts, no tattoos, nothing. The crunch is spread extremely thin over many vague and confusing character stats and skills. These also cannot be changed. Well, towards the end game, there's an incredibly costly item that requires tons of grinding and then only changes a few very specific points and not others. The voice acting is good and I like the character design, but the story is definitely happening around you and to you. You're not a part of it; your decisions don't drive it. Even your character doesn't seem to drive it. They just do what other people tell them to do. Lots of talent went into this game, but it isn't coordinated. It's a bunch of talented musicians without a conductor playing from different sheets of music. Somethings are great, but the leadership failed this game. The code itself is clearly a mess with optimization issues, scenery "pop," broken AIs, missing features, and bugs galore. Unfortunately, the game has now been out for almost a year and there's no indication that this is going to be fixed. Sure, some patches have reduced game breaking bugs, but there's not going to be the love and attention this broken carcass of a game deserves. Ruling: Skip it, even on a sale.

The overall story had some good moments which gave the "ending" some good emotion. That's really all I can say positivly about the game. The buggy and glitchy state didn't have much effect on my rating of the game because I understand they happen. The world looks good and that's it. Very pretty yet empty. NPC's walking around and driving does not make a world whole, nor is it interactable. Roleplaying is laughable because it only means you play the role of V. That's it. Weapons are pretty much all the same, clothing and "armor" are meaningless, the game was marketed as something that was not shipped out. Disappointed and hard lesson learned
