Bugs were not the issue

First off, I really believe if you just played shooters and GTA-like Games so far you will be very happy with CP2077. If you are coming von a RPG or or CRPG perspective, or really liked the Witcher Series I would not recommend. A lot of people complained about bugs, but honestly, on PC at the end of December 2020 I did not discover any bugs that would cause me to downvote the game. (I can live with some, all RPGs have them) The game to me has a much more serious problem with its general design. To also mention the positiv things. The Graphics and the world design, as well a the setting is just beyond every other game I've ever played. The world makes me want to discover all the parts of it, every building, every street, seems to be designed with care, and thats great. And it is a very big game world, in which you could easily have more the one game unfolding it's story, without designing a new game world and in which I could spend 200+ hours more. BUT they are terrible from a role playing perspective, beyond act 1. Act 1 was honestly great, and excatly what I expect of the game after seeing the trailers, trying to make your way to the top in a flashy cyberpunk world with its bright and dark sides. The problem of the story is that is that it basicly has its final in act 1 and goes down after and ends terrible. Works for a Indie game as a "experience" but its a bad expirience, so no replayability and not matching expectations. Also there is no freedom of choice and many parts (tarot cards, priests you meet) just mean nothing in the and - which fits the general theme of the story, but also - isnt a enjoyable experience to me. This results in little freedom of choice. Also the whole "romance" part (which they talked about in the trailers) had little freedom of choice and game of thrones like "you thought this character is important-but no". It seems to be a general idea to "tease and not deliver" in the game, which is interesting but in the and not enjoyable. 2/5

I was very much looking forward to this

I really like CDPR and want to support their endeavors (and this game on paper feels like it was made for me) ...but soon as I fired up this game and opened the game-menu I realized my cursor was trapped in the middle third of my screen - keeping me from accessing roughly 50% of the menu. Granted I am using a widescreen monitor (3440x1440) but this is a AAA game in 2021, and there's just no excuse for stuff like this. Had hoped the updates/patches might have cleared up stuff like this (and I was frankly ready to overlook quite a bit) but such a blatantly game-breaking bug in the first moments was enough for me to refund. ymmv

A mediocre experience

This is a game that sets you up for disappointment. Not because it's bad and you're disappointed that you wasted your money on it, but because it's so good you can't help but feel disappointed at the fact that you could have had a better game if it wasn't so short. The different lifepaths idea feels unfulfilled. It doesn't have much of an impact apart from the start of the game. Sure, you'll have a few different lines with characters depending on which lifepath you started with, but that's it. It doesn't give you content exclusive to the lifepaths you choose. The "Braindance" thing is annoying because it sounds fascinating, but it ends up as an underdeveloped concept. It only appears a few times during certain missions. The way it was used feels as if it existed solely for plot convenience. You carry around a headset everywhere, but you don't ever use it apart from the few instances where you are asked to use it for a mission. Customisation in the game is practically non-existent. When creating your character at the start, I was surprised at how limited it was, given the way it was marketed. I was not allowed to customise V's home, nor get new ones by myself (apart from getting new apartments via Judy/Panam/River, where their apartments became mine as well) You cannot customise the cars that you bought either. The game's main story, and world is the most disappointing part. The world, while pretty to look at, feels very empty. The enemy AI is really dumb. The main story feels very abrupt at times, (you get introduced to Jackie, undergo a time skip, suddenly the 2 of you are best buds, then he dies.) The game tells you that you have a choice, but you don't, not really. You just get to choose how you get from point A to point B. I loved the side quests, but there is very little side quests for you to do. I hate that I get attached to characters easily because the game either kills them off, or isn't long enough for you to really get to know them.

Disappointed

In short, as a huge fan of the Witcher series and supporter of CDPR, this game was a big disappointment. If you are looking for an immersive role-playing experience with varying choices and consequences, deep lore and character building, you will not get much of that from this game. If you are okay with a run-of-the-mill action game with a short linear main story, a myriad of decent side stories, rather repetitive open-world content, and have the money to burn, I would still advise you to wait until they release all the planned expansions, because by then most of the bugs and glitches should have been fixed, and they may have implemented quality of life fixes or added more content. In its current state, I would not recommend it to anyone, the game feels half-finished in a lot of ways, and there are better, cheaper, games out there which may better suit you, whether you are a role-playing or action game enthusiast.

Wasted potential and overhyped product

I feel like the game was massively overhyped and underdelivered. There is so much GOOD in the setting that could be expanded on that it it a massive shame that so many things had to be cut from the game and half assed to make the release deadline. The devs are not the blame here though, given enough time they could have polished this into a GOTY product like the Witcher 3 was, but no amount of bugfixers can remedy the cut features and half baked ideas in the game and I will never waste any money on the DLC content they are undoubtedly planning to ram down our throats.
