Cyberpunk 2077 have been hyped up for so long, and usually that does in fact not work in the favor of the game, but in this case the hype have been 100% justified.
I absolutely adore this game, the various storylines, the costumization options - which I find incredibly inclusive and modern !
Sure, there is a couple kinks that needs to be ironed out - the game freezes randomly, and some screen bugs - but I am sure they'll patch that up in no time, so it won't affect my rating.
Now, all I want is to continue getting lost in Night City - feel the vibrations of the beat against my skin - and finish V's journey.
The core game itself is a fantastic game and I think fans of either the genre or of CDPR will find it to be very much the game they were hoping for. After a fairly long opening story. which is quite linear. you are eventually dropped into free-roam where you are free to pick up side-missions, explore the city, take part in events littered around, or push ahead with the main story. I think all of these elements are quite fun on their own and even the boring sounding missions are usually more engaging than you would expect.
As for the bugs issue, I'm not sure if I happened to luck out or I happen to be running the same hardware they used to test builds on, or maybe everyone else is blowing it out of proportion - I can't really say. But for my part I have not yet had any quest breaking bugs, UI bugs, or any other issues requiring a restart of the game in my 25 hours in Night City. This isn't to say I haven't encountered bugs, but they have been restricted to a single T-posing NPC, the occasional NPC dialogue playing over another one, one scene where my camera was placed inside an NPC, and some clipping (NPCs walking through doors, through my character, through parked cars, and rarely the ground).
When it comes to graphics and performance, this area could use some polish. I am using a 5700XT and a Ryzen 5 3600 and I get about the performance I expect to get most of the time, but not all the time. I get my fair share of frame drops during combat, usually when things are exploding or a lot of things change in the scene. I also have some issues with the weather, when the in-game weather changes I will often get quite a bit of frame drops for a few minutes before it normalizes again. Driving quickly around will also reveal some performance issues, cars and pedestrians sometimes lag behind the scene in loading and will kinda just pop in when you get close.
tl;dr: Great game, I love it, but have experienced my fair share of performance dips and non-critical bugs. If you don't mind this, pick it up, but if you want a more polished and refined experience I would wait a few months until more patches land.
Yes there are a few bugs, yes some features are missing (hide headgear, maybe transmog or another system for clothes, slow walking on Keyboard and some Optimization) But that is easy fixible! This RPG is amazing and I will play it for 1000 of hours.
The athmospere and the worlddesign are better than anything I have seen before!
The story is one of the best I've ever seen!
The characters are memorable even side characters are hard to forget!
The sound and graphics in a game of that size is unbeaten!
And the replayability is just awesome!
I can't imagen how good this game will be when all DLC's are released and all bugs are gone.
To all you haters out there ... stop it ... get some help!
This IS NOT GTA! This is an RPG! And I f*cking love it ;)
One of the most immersive RPGs with unique settingm loving it.
Works at high settings 60 fps on 2060 super, Ryzen 5 3600
Pros
- Cool gameplay
- Interesting plot
- Stunning graphics
Cons
- Vehicles don't have a weight feel
- At the moment - lots of visual bugs
- RTX doesn't do that much except water reflections and steals 30-50 FPS.
- (Just personal) Can't create characters from the trailers
It's nice and it's well done as a whole as far as I'm concenred for as long as I have played and my criticism is nitpicking, I would call it. I like the dialoge and the options and the story so far.
The customisation is plaged by console limitations. I don't know if a character will look nice with hand picked options of a facial feature right up in my screen randomly introduced from- a - o - y -g -z, I know how by scales how I'd like my character to look from other well designed body scales in other games. You get a view of only the jaw but don't see the whole face and so forth so you constantly go back and forth with much effort. Hoping for some mods here or a pach from the creators.
I love the retro interior car design, where the driver is sourounded by the dashboard, in controll of everything, but why did you have to make it all brown and boring? Maybe I have not played enough to see more cars. And I'm a bit sad to say that the cars might be a bit to much retro and not enough future retro, but it's just not important.
The points you get are not well described on how to use but I had a youtuber figure it out so I guess I'm alright with that.
Some people complain about the controlmapping but I like it. C for constant crouch and ctrl for when you need it. Maybe F is dong to much and I would like to use the E for opening doors and so forth in non action places.
I'll update this review when I see what happends in the future. I think I'l play this a minimum of 3 times to play the basic alternatives and gain knowledge of the game. I bet I'l play this game over and over lots of times because it has a nice overal feel to it.
Love the game so far, just bits and pices that don't really matter. I'm excited to see what awaits me around the corner.
