A cyberpunk action roleplay magnum opus

After finishing Bethesda's Starfield after 180 hours, I have to say: Bethesda should be embarrassed. Starfield and CP77 2.0 arrived at roughly the same time for the same price [excluding DLC], and there is no comparison. From the presentation to characters to activities, gun play, world building, story and writing, CP77 simply dominates. Is CP77 the perfect game? No? Is it worth it's full asking price? In my opinion yes, absolutely. But that isn't even necessary as it is on sale from time to time and there's no reason not to wait for a discount to pick it up. If you are interested in immersive action games with a decent and interesting story and good writing and fun open world gameplay, this is a superb pick. And while the initial release was not great, cudos to CDPR for sticking with the game and supporting it even though it would have been very easy to drop the game as a bad memory, as so many other developers and devs have done in the past, cancelling DLC and even support, screwing over customers for the quick buck (see e.g. EA's long, long list of effectively killed studios) Thank you, CDPR, for being a company that I don't mind giving money to as a customer.

Masterpiece with technical errors

Story 10/10 Gameplay 10/10 Quality/Performance 9/10 Price-Content 10/10 Sound 10/10 I love the setting I love the topic I love the gameplay Easy to fix issues and minor bugs IMO it's a perfect mix of Movie and RPG. Cinematic animations, bagdrop, design, protagonist and characters, dialogs. Gameplaywise great shooting mechanics, good difficulty, fun stealth mechanics, interesting world, interessting quests, good loot, good crafting, great sound. Performance is good (1080Ti, almost everything maxed and I get around 55 FPS)

Review of the state with 2.01 With 2.00 it was actually OK if you ignore the half-baked dialogs in the quests. Since 2.01 I have more crashes, cars sometimes drive half in the ground, some icons in the menus have disappeared and much more. Had it played through at release 3 years ago, it has actually left a better impression.

Cyberpunk

I hastily rushed out a bought the first copy of this game I could lay hands on, This was launch day. Got home and stuffed the disk (yes a physical copy) into my then PS4. I waited with much excitement for it to do its thing before I could play it. And it was worth waiting! Even on an old PS4 I managed to play the game, really enjoyed the story lines, side missions and general appearance of the game. The driving however off the bat absolutely sucked!! The map was laggy, cars were rigid but I didn't care I spent most of the time running everywhere anyway just so I didn't miss anything. Then all the abuse started and I couldn't really figure out why because I didn't really experience too many issues, I played Bethesda games so I was pretty used to glitchy, weird things happening and just assumed it was kinda normal. The updates came, thick and fast. And then 2.0 dropped... Properly game changing, it's like playing a whole new Cyberpunk 2. I'm fully invested in this game, I've got the models, posters I've gone full geek and I don't even care.

Used to be better

I played most of the way through this not long after release, lost interest, came back and replayed it all the way later. I think that CDPR did a pretty reasonable job of fixing up its problems and getting it into shape. Then they threw all that away in an almost total rebuild for the new DLC. You had a ton of perks to mess with across around 15 skills, some of which drastically changed how the skill and game worked; now you have small skill trees that just aren't interesting enough to convince me to play again. You got myriad stat bonuses for raising attributes, so a three body character felt vastly different from a 20 - lots of hiding behind cover and using quickhacks and tech guns; now the attributes give virtually nothing, but feel free to use everything in the game to pick up small benefits from a new mastery list that isn't explained at all. As I understand it, this revision is intended to get players out of their comfort zone, push them to try new tactics and abilities. What it actually feels like is CDPR decided to nerf what people are using the most, tossed some minor bonuses most players won't even notice around and called it a day.
