A childhood dream

A great game, but currently with many bugs and issues. I have a lower end of the requirement of PC and with very low settings, but it runs playable still. Now the important part: The game atmosphere and story lines are amazing. It is very true of one of my childhood (teenagehood) tabletop roleplaying game: Cyberpunk 2020. Lore is there, but it is also updated and targets our current political issues around the world. There is a lot of background world building through adverts and chats, if someone spends time to immerse into it. The main mission and story is great too, again something very much on the top. Important issues had been touched again, with a good sense. Side missions adds a layer and reflection to the main mission, complement and extend on the problems talked in these. The world is large and gritty. True cyberpunk place (and not just a GTA thing). Both the city and the neighbouring badlands are well-fleshed. The character background gives good enough differences in dialogues (and it is true to the original lore of three large classes in Cyberpunk 2020's America's), but don't get mistaken: V is a personality by herself (himself). It shapes V's background somewhat but not V's overall personality. This is not as much different as in Witcher, which main protagnost has his own personality too (somewhat more customisation here though). The skill progression system is nice and very interesting - and it gives so many options to approach a situation. Item progression is not ideal though. It is somewhat immersion breaking finding better gear at a random street gang member than an elite Arasaka team. And here is some advice and wish list for devs: Please do a modding that is open ended. This game environment is great and could be a tool to tell Cyberpunk stories in digital form. I think the community would react such decision great, where people can tweak their own version of the game.

Not a fanboy of CDPR

Like the title said, not a fanboy. Didn't even finished W3 because the game is too long. Haven't finish CD2077 yet but I'm at 40ish hour so far. I'm doing side quests. Trying to get most of the game as I can get. Getting all the cars. Getting all the achievements. Overall. The game is awesome. Yes, crafting suck as it is. Bugs bugs bugs, nothing gamebreaking in my gameplay so far. I don't have any problem running the game with a decent framerate (Ryzen 2600X, 16gig 3200mhz, GTX 1080 8gb) and by decent I mean more than 60fps. If you think I'm telling lies, I don't. I don't need to make you believe it anyway so why should I bother? I'm not doing this review to get a debate on this. A lot of people doing it already as it is. CD2077 soundtrack is beautiful, like listening to BladeRunner soundtrack. The graphics... Night City is by far, the most complex, beautifully details, imaginative, city that I saw in a video game. Nothing looks the same. You get lost at first because it is big, but you get used to it. I rarely use the teleport system because I want to ride my car from point A to B. The dialogue, I like it. The voice acting is one of the best I heard. Emotion, passion, you can feel what's happening. Side quests are deep and get you involve in it. Kinda like W3 but they are shorter, which I like. By the way there's a lot of cars that you can buy or get for free in the game, none of them look the same. Full details, there's time and passion in this work. Overall you can see that this game have been made by people with passion and talent. CDPR will fix the bugs, they will surely add cut content (probably because they are to buggy right now to be in the game, but they will. And if not well I don't know what was "promise" in the first place so what I don't know I don't miss). I did get bugs like everyone else, but nothing "gamebreaking". Just thing midly anyoning like flying cars but nothing gamebreaking.

One of a kind up until this moment

I think part of a bit artificial hype is what caused the overall unhapiness with the game. Made myself not watch any demos and advertisements before actual release. And this game made a great impresson on my. Bear in mind that although my video card meets only minimum requirements, i played on High graphics settings without lags. Amount of details (lightning, a lot of scattered small items in the city, textures and so on) is mind-blowing. It became especially evident to me after started using Photo mode. I can make beautiful wallpapers real-time, by myself. Music made me deep-dive into the vibe of the city and game overall. No game me binge-play this much for the last 5 years. Will be patiently waiting for patches and will play for the second time after upgrading hardware in the future.

Redeemed

I bought the game on launch, first and last time I made that mistake. That being said, CDR did it, as it is now, 2.0 + Phantom Freedom, if the game launched like this, I would have made that mistake some other time for the last time. Though personally, I think the game's narrative suffers for being open world and nothing will fix that, you can get around that problem by playing "the right way" but man... open world and linear "clock's tickin so" narratives will never, ever go hand in hand. The story is great but, "clock's tickin'... take ur time" is a immersion killer. NEVER buy on release. NEVER pre-order. It's never done "when it's done". But when it's done... it's pretty fking preem.

Thank you for all your hard work!

After playing it for about 5-10 hours I have to say that I love the game! However I still haven't bought it yet. I played it through a friend. I will buy it and fully play it once more patches are out... Thank you for all your hard work and don't listen to all the negative PR. It clearly comes from spoiled people who have either forget or never experienced the old 80s gaming scene with all the problems and the hardships.
