Flawed, but enjoyable.

I went into Cyberpunk with zero expectations. Didn't watch trailers. Didn't get caught up in the hype. I deliberately kept expectations low because I saw from how hyped everyone was getting we'd probably have another No Man's Sky on our hands. The game? Not bad. I'd say it's probably this generation's Fallout 3. Definitely needs more content. Definitely has a really short main quest. Game has loads of side missions to do, and that's a good thing. The characters are all super memorable, which is a really good thing, because it depends heavily on those main characters. Pros: -Pretty detailed character customization -Lots of build options -Pretty easy to use crafting system and lots of easy ways of getting parts -Memorable characters -Graphics are nice when rendered -Pretty good story Cons: -Until recently, incredibly buggy. Still has bugs, will for quite a while, but it's not flat-out unplayable. -There feels like there's an entire third of story missing, because the campaign rather abruptly leaps towards its end pretty fast. -Some upgrades are not nearly as useful as others, and you'll find that out pretty fast. -Graphics pop-in is not as bad as it was but is still REALLY noticeable -Night City's a great looking world but there's not too much to do in it. Sidequests tend to come from random calls. -Food, unlike in games like Skyrim or Fallout, is virtually useless--you can craft healing items in ridiculous amounts with very little materials -You can choose from three backstories, kind of like Dragon Age: Origins, only these backgrounds do pretty much nothing except change the first thirty minutes of gameplay and offer occasionally dialogue prompts. -Enemy AI is pretty braindead. Bosses (barring Oda) are also kind of a joke. Combat is purely a numbers game and between how overpowered quickhacks are and how easy it is to get good guns/melee, you'll come out on top often tl;dr good game, but not an amazing one. Check your hype at the door.

You don't want to miss this game

I know: there are some bugs. The last-gen console launch was bad. The police system is rubbish. BUT if you're playing on PC and are want a rich, immersive, story-driven, characterful RPG in the best cyberpunk open world ever made, you owe it to yourself to play this at least once - preferably more. I have just finished my third playthrough and I am holding myself back from starting again. I feel that this game deserves serious love, whatever its flaws. Don't soak up the hate: allow yourself to enjoy this masterpiece. PROS: - A drop-dead gorgeous cyberpunk city, even on my mid-range PC with no raytracing. Each side alley, marketplace, club, and highway oozes cyberpunk aesthetics. - Characters that are superbly acted, well-written, and realistically animated. These characters are going to stay in my mind for a long time. - A lore-rich world, thanks to decades of the tabletop RPG. - Genuinely impactful choices, both in terms of your own role-playing and in terms of the wider story arcs. - Great to replay thanks to divergent playstyles and two different voice actors for the main character. I have tried a sniper, a stealthy hacker, and a melee-based cyborg ninja. A different experience each time. - If you take your time, do the side quests (almost all of which are unmissable) one playthrough can last 100 hours. - The soundtrack and score are incredible. - A range of divergent end-game scenarios, with different consequences. - Enjoyable combat, both in terms of melee and ranged weapons. - Driving is actually really fun if you use a controller, and many of the cars and bikes are excellent. CONS: - The main story's urgent pacing felt a bit at odds with the opportunities for open-world exploration. - The police AI definitely sucks (but unless you're trying to murder civilians for some reason, it won't bother you - seriously, this isn't GTA!). - There are some bugs, but I rarely game-breaking. In short, if you like Deus Ex and Blade Runner, you NEED to play this game.

Nearly Perfect with a few flaws

I've been playing the game since patch 1.2 on PC for about 20 hours now. I do not have a RTX-GPU, so I miss some graphical features but it still looks quite impressive. The performance seems not be that balenced because there are many games that are looking better, while not consuming so much resources. The game itself would be really immersive if there wouldn't be all the glitches. So polishing the game is definitely necessary. I'm not the kind of players who cares much about it, so it's ok, but not perfect. There is just one functinality which i'm missing: It would be great if there would be an option to enable subtitles just for languages which are not the main language of the game. I'm playing in german and it would be great to have subs just for situations where the characters speak japanese or french. The rest of the configs like graphic options, sound, keyboard etc. are well designed. I'm playing the game with mouse and keyboard AND a cotroller for driving since it fits much better than the keyboard. To the game itself: The stories are absolutely great and thats not just the main story. Every quest i've been playing so far (i do all sidequests I get), was completely different and well designed. Even if the quest is a "Get from A to B to C..." -thing, there is a great story hidden, so i suggest to do even the side qests which seeming to be simple. Also the character you meet in the game are authentic even if you do not like them ;-) The RPG system is great because it have no classes at all and is rich in detail. One things which is bad is the cloth system, because clothes give armour and of course you want to have as much as possible. For that reason my char always looks stupid. But because of the first person (except driving) perspective, it is not so important for me. All in all: if your like RPG games with a really great story and dont mind the glitches, you will not be disappointed! For me it is one of the best games I've ever played!

I liked it

Sorry for all the people who didn't enjoy this. I had a blast with it, even if it had some issues. I passed 90 good hours playing it, and I'll be happy to play again if/when a GOTY will be released. If you are able to ignore "what it should have been" this is easily a 8/10 game, issues included. I hope it will get better with patches and expasions and rise to a 9/10.
