Most immersed I've felt playing a game in many years. The number of concepts and ideas that CDPR took the time to flesh out is truly impressive, I'm really enjoying the journey.
Not a fan boy, I watched a few of the pre-launch vids, but found most of it quite silly and irrelevant hype.
I do however love the cyberpunk theme in games, all the way from the first System Shock. Ever since then been hoping for something like it (The deus ex series came very close, especially with the first game, but didn't quite get the same feeling as the system shock games).
Decided to buy Cyberpunk a day or two before launch, just to preload the stuff.
I didn't expect much in terms of performance as i have a RX580 and Ryzen 1600, but i was pleasantly surprised with a 30-40 fps on high settings (though knocked down the anisotropic and AO a notch each). The game is beautiful, and plays surprisingly well on my dated hardware.
There are a few minor bugs, not game breaking in my experience though. E.g. saw two NPCs do the T-Pose, but for about 5 seconds. And while you can remap your controls, it reset the first time i did this, and even now (i think they patched that) it still wont me untoggle crouch during a convo even though i changed the toggle crouch from C to Ctrl (C is the skip convo button, very annoying).
After 19hours i have had only 1 crash, though I get that everyone's systems are different.
The gameplay is also pretty good. It takes some time to get used to all the buttons, especially when in the hacking screen. If you focus your skill you get very strong fairly quickly, but you cans till take higher difficulty missions for a challenge, and get better rewards while doing so.
The Narrative is great. I hear people complain that your dialogue doesnt mattery, not true. There are plenty of options in what you say, and what you do (even in some minor quick jobs) that changes other's perception of you. Some NPCs are there for many many missions, Judy for example, and Victor.
And there is a tonne of things to do, any way you want to.
All and all a great game, that requires some quality of life polish (keymapping especially) but is well worth the money.
This game does exactly what I hoped it would. It delivers, with a great attention to detail, precision and gorgeous dynamics, a story set in a cyberpunk sci-fi setting. This story does not hinge exclusively on graphic effects, the setting, the writing, the voice acting or the soundscape, not only on the lighting, the mix of cinematic and player centered events as well as frame-work about night city and its residents nor the various characters you meet. The Story hinges on all those things, put together in an astonishing way. I was speechless that, after only 16h, I have already experienced sooooooo many situations and moments in a game that could easily have a boring questionmark-follow parcours at its heart. It was the absolute opposite. Main and Sidequests, the size of the city, the bustling life and crime....amazing! And I am still only starting out.
This is Cyberpunk people! Immersion, style, atmosphere and story. Great experience so far!
Sidenote: I had 0 Crashes, 0 Bugs, very few gfx glitches that did not matter at all. (atch 1.03) I have remaped quite a few keys to my liking, can get great performance on high to ultra settings (ryzen 1800x, 1080ti /w 1080p 60hz)
Now around 15h of gaming into the game i can state so far it seems to unfold into a superb Action RPG with really good quests/stories and adequate but not allways convenient controls (not fully customizable and car driving with keyboard is crap).
The german translation is minus a few hickups (Hitzdraht?) exceptionally well and as well are the speakers so far.
It runs surpisingly well for my PC that is:
Win10
Ryzen 3600
32GB (2x16) DDR4 3600 RAM
Sapphire RX480 Nitro+ 8GB VRAM
1xSSD Systemdrive Samsung EVO 850
2xHD Stripeset Gamedrive (where Cyberpunk is installed)
X-Fi Titanium
Resolution is 1920x1200
The only changes to the settings are that i switched to Fullscreen plus i disabled Filmgrain and Motion Blur, Depth of Field.
The gameplay feels allways smooth at around 30 to 60 FPS.
I had to the point of writing this review zero crashes and only a few glitches regarding mirros and 3rd person perspective at Ripper-Docs,
So far my experience with the game is overwhelmingly positive and i am very happy i bought it!
Escpecially as i deeply disliked the controls of Witcher 2 and 3 but Cyberpunk does it much better and the controls do not prevent me from gaming at all.
Imho the game is a 9/10 with the potential of 10/10 with more polish and some fixes like car riving with keyboard improvements.
Right now, the game is 3/5, but I'm giving 5 stars because there's too much hate and because I trust CD Project to meke the game better. It's a bad thing that they stop making this game as an RPG and ended up saying it's an action game.
This game needs more RPG elements, a better AI, a better starts with less cutscenes....I want to meet my team and my contacts better before jumping to the pool.
The game seems very well made when it comes to the main quests, but falls flat in the open world and the secondary quests.
If they fix the bugs (though I barely experienced a minor few) and make it really inmersive in the open world, it could be a masterpiece.
