Crusader: No Remorse™

First off, I should point out that I'm using the original disc in DosBox, but I'm assured this is identical. This is one of my all-time favourite DOS games (alongside Terra Nova, which hasn't aged anywhere near as well) - Isometric shooting with intelligent puzzles and some real head-scratching moments. Hilarious (and hopefully ironic) cutscenes, and the best selection of weapons in any game ever. Well, except the sequel! The music is up there with Deus Ex and Syndicate. Throw aside your reservations about the odd-looking gameplay, and dive into the most satisfyingly destructive game ever. Literally everything can be annihilated! One last thing, since this is emulated in DosBox, it needs a bit of beef to run. My Samsung NC110 netbook doesn't do so well in this respect, despite running Freespace2 beautifully. You'll need to break out the desktop PC for this.

made in 1996 and still one of the favourite games of mine of all time. nothing can really compare to it or beat it for staying power. even today it looks fine. the sound was a bit glitchy towards the end of long cut scenes, also its hard to control with the cursor keys i suggest using the del, end, pagedown, etc keys for movement

I remember getting this in 1995 and just having a blast playing through it. Setting people on fire and blowing them up with the mechs was just fun. This ran well and despite the old graphics, looked pretty decent. The jumping sequences were a bit hard because of the funny way the character was angled or the way he jumped. Those could be frustrating at times. Otherwise I re-enjoyed this game and hope gog will have no regret soon.

Imagine a 5 year old folk launching this gem for the first time. I didn't even know how to interact with the objects, I just walked around and shot everyone and everything and had great fun (up to the moment I stumbled upon the first doors that had to be open by a remote switch :D). If you have never met Crusader before, let me give you a quick keyword session: isometric, action, large levels, nice graphics, your HQ and weapons / items purchasing, live-action video sequences. As the time passed, I developed a pretty big addiction to this Warren Spector's (Deus Ex) masterpiece, it's exploding environment, elements of adventure, inventory and lots of high-tech gadgets (hi, "turn-in-the-wrong-direction-and-i-will-kill-you" spider bombs!) Also, it's totally mind-blowing how great this game looks on my 1920x1080 Samsung LCD and how naturally the controls feel even after so many years. A must buy for every GOG enthusiast.
