Thousands of aliens, giant spiders, mutant lizards, and more are on the attack - can you survive the onslaught? In Crimsonland you will unlock new weapons and perks constantly improving your abilities and arsenal. Your screen will be filled with literally hundreds of monsters and thousands of giblets. Perks
What are perks? Perks are like talents in an RPG game. You earn XP by killing monsters and with XP you earn levels. After leveling up you get to choose a perk. For example, a perk called Fastloader enables you to reload extremely fast. During a session perks will stack up a and every game will be a bit different. You'll unlock perks during the quest mode after which they become available in the survival game modes.
Weapons & Carnage
We've created a huge arsenal of 30 unique weapons ranging from the humble pistol to the mysterious Shrinkifier 5k. The weapons are unlocked by playing the quest mode and they become available in survival game modes as well. The better your arsenal - the better chances you have at scoring higher outside the quest mode.
Co-op Mayhem
All Crimsonland game modes feature local co-op for up to four players. Gather your friends and show everyone who wields the gauss shotgun like a pro!
Crimsonland Classic, the 2003 version, is included as a FREE extra!

Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
I played this through in its entirety back when it got released way back when.
Found it randomly on GoG. Played it again, still awesome.
Then I noticed GoG included the original as a bonus download, how great is that?!
Classic twin stick shooter. The enemy patterns are predictable, making games deterministic.
When you hit kill milestones, you get perks, which are semirandomised, which adds a degree of strategy, and only serves to make the game more awesome.
Levels usually last under a minute unless you're doing crazy survival runs.
And the story is great: here's guns, go shoot zombies/spiders/aliens.
5/5 because the remake stands up after, what? 17-18 years?
By the way, if you've played this when it came out, it came out in 2003. Let that sink in for a moment.
Let me preface this by saying that the 2014 remastered version of Crimsonland is all things awesome, excellent and amazing. This has also been quite an enlightening experience for me because when I first played the original game, I had to cheat to beat it. I also tried to cheat this game when I first got it, after I kept dying in the middle of the Normal difficulty. I couldn't find one so I decided to just face this game on its own terms. It was a stiff learning curve, but I finally managed to beat this game on Normal. I then beat it on Hardcore, and then finally, unbelievably, I beat it on Grim. I think that's quite an accomplishment for a sucky gamer like me. I found I enjoyed the game more without cheating it and I'm the much better player for it. I'm now replaying the game to get the stars, meaning I want to beat the game without a scratch. It's even more challenging and even more fun!
There's hardly anything bad I can say about the game EXCEPT....
The Splitter gun just sucks. I mean, if beating the game on it's highest difficulty unlocks what is supposedly this awesome weapon, it better be the most awesome weapon in the game. But it's not. The reload time, even with the Fastloader/Toughloader perks, is just excruciating. The splitter effect it itself is amazing, but only when the weapon is firing. Then it's another long excruciating wait for the weapon to fire again.
And oh yeah, the Blade gun, the one you unlock after beating the game on Hardcore also sucks.
You already have the best weapons without unlocking the last two weapons. My two favorite weapons ( and I think they're the best in the game) are the Rocket Minigun and the Gauss Minigun. Those are the two weapons that got me to beat this game in all difficulties in the first place.
However, those are just little nitpicks. I found the game very enjoyable, and I think I will continue to enjoy this for quite a while.
An entertaining and a fast-paced top down shooter game. The game is very clear: shoot enemies, pick up guns and power-ups and gain perks.
Enemy design is not so creative, but does it really matter in this kind of game? The game screen can be filled with tons of enemies, but even still the game doesn’t even slow down or lag. There are huge amounts of different guns, but some of them are not that useful at all compared to other guns. The game is at its best in survival game mode in which has clear progression and intensity. The other mode, quests mode, is not that great and it’s just an excuse to unlock new perks and guns for survival mode.
After all, Crimsonland is very entertaining for short gaming sessions.
If you are expecting a big deep game with a cool plot and/or twist or interesting mechanics, then this is not your game. However if you are itching just to get a game, play for 10 minutes and blast a whole species out of existence, then this is a game for you. It's very simple and very focused as in it seems to only exist to satisfy that itch. Guns, perks, survival mode. Nothing excessive about the game other than the gore and ginormous waves of aliens, spiders, humanoid lizards, zombies, spiders (you get the picture). Good gun, perk and pickup variety, the music is surprisingly fitting and i never thought it stood in the way of the fun. Haven't tried multiplayer of which it supports up to 4 players on the same PC. You begin the game with some basic weapons and there is a quest mode which unlocks the (plenty) extra ones, same as the perks. So i recommend plowing through quest mode first and then setting your mind on beating one of the many and interesting challenge modes (which you also unlock via quest mode).
Great game, for a very specific type of itch, 4/5 cause i haven't seen multiplayer yet and i'm sure it'll earn it's 5th as easily as it did th rest.
