Works for me on Windows 10
I just installed this on Windows 10 (sept 29 2016) and it runs without a problem in full HD mode (1920*1080 resolution) so maybe it is a video driver related problem? I have an Asus laptop with a Geforce GTX 950M videocard. Everything updated with the latest drivers.

Not it's predecessor, but still good.
The original Cossacks allowed you to play as any number of European or Middle Eastern nations with gargantuan armies across massive maps and had very quick game play that allowed you to wage massive wars in a short time span. The sequel is an altogether different beast however. Though the armies are still very large, the maps are not. The game plays much more slowly and methodically, Cannons require more thought and consideration to position and use, troops have moral and require careful management in order to make the most out of them. There is still a large variety of countries to play, though not as many as the original. So why play this game? Well though it's veered from the path of the original the game play is still very engaging and entertaining. The satisfaction of properly positioned cannons annihilating enemy forces is even more exciting than it was in the original. Crippling enemy armies with well timed rifle volleys is something that few other games properly convey. Watching the enemy army crumble and retreat after a combination of these two is the sweetest victory. The game delivers a sense of satisfaction that can only be had by watching your well laid plans come to fruition in the most violent ways the 18th century can deliver. The game lacks the same rapid and arcade pace of the original game, and the maps feel too small and limiting at times. The resource system has changed from the original as well. Rather than manage resources entirely yourself, you take over neutral villages which appear on the map. This essentially places all of the meat of the game on constructing an army and using it effectively, which wouldn't be so terrible were it not for the somewhat sporadic AI which will at times ignore your soldiers, allowing you to gun them down at your leisure. If you are looking for more of Cossacks, then this isn't for you. If you want a slower paced strategy game requiring careful positioning and management. You may like this a lot

GOG versions not windows 10 supported
I have the steam version and GOG version. Both are not supported out of the box. I was under the impression the GOG version was updated more than the Steam version based on Forum posted. It's not. It runs at 5 fps and is unplayable. I wish it worked out with the GOG version since I was eager enough to buy versions of the game in order to have a smoother process. The Steam version does work with lots when you mess around with the files a lot and bring up files from various updates and online sources. Anyways, it's quite frustrating. Sorry GOG.

NAPOLEONIC LINE-BATTLE SIMULATOR
This is a Napoleonic line-battle simulator, and the best of all time ! Exactly what I've been looking for. I am a huge fan of the Napoleonic era and Napoleon and this game simulates a lot of the aspects of the battle. You can create formations with officers, or not, and choose when and how your troops march and when they fire. This feels amazing, and as someone who has a lot of Napoleonic wargames this is very refreshing to have something simulate line-battles to this extent ! Even the total war games I have do not simulate the details in Napoleonic wars to this degree. I highly recommend this game if you are a huge fan of line battles and the Napoleonic era. The graphics, artwork, music, and cutscenes are all great. This is a great game for a great price brought to us by GSC Game World and GOG. Thanks for reading

Great strategy game and it works
Frist I want to point out the game actually works for those who are not very convinced. Its currently running ok in every aspect(despite a random crash i had) in a windows 10 gtx 560, 8gb RAM and i7 so make dont worry and buy it. I played the game before and wanted to get back to it now that i have windows 10 and the CD copy didnt work so i first bought it on steam the same day this game came out on gog and immediately got my refund on steam(the steam version also worked for me(just the intro videos which works on gog version got the game minimized in steam version but the game was playable fresh downloaded without doing anything to it)) you dont have internet play but it doesnt matter as no one plays this game nowadays. I usually create lobbys on gameranger to play although i havent got into a game with someone yet. On a final note, i think this game is fair supperior to cossacks 3, just a little weak in the ai aspect. But the "small maps" and "limited maps" some people say are just trifles compared to what the game is offering. Seriously, buy it i want people to play with
