Cosmic Star Heroine

I supported this game on Kickstarter years ago, but never got around to playing it. Battle system is great, spritework and music are great, but the dialogue and characters are just too cringe for me to keep playing. There's only so much bad writing I can take from a story.

This is maybe the first classic RPG where I'm not constantly reaching for a guide, which is a HUGE plus in my book: no labyrinths, no puzzles, no hidden places which are near-impossible to find without a guide! Gameplay is intuitive, combat is fun, characters are enjoyable, plot is simple yet engaging. Pixel art is beautiful. I also like that it's not a 100-hours game: story is tight and gets to the point, dialogs are coincise. Highly recommended!

Havent played too much yet, but this feels like playing an old super nintendo game. So not bad if thats what your looking for. Meaning the game looks like its few decades old, but still if you dont mind that then atleast so far the story has been fine and fighting is alright so I think I will finish the game to see how it ends.

It's a bit boring at first (as the game's prologue is too linear), but it gets much more interesting after 5 hours or so, when you unlock the mothership, which allows you to do secondary missions, recruit new people for your base and choose which planet you want to visit. However, I still prefer the wonderful (though tragic) finale of another game from the same team: Breath of Death VII. I'm surprised no one ever talks about that ending!

CSH is a short game with a quick easy to follow story that pushes you through multiple beautiful areas. The soundtrack is just as beautiful as the settings. It offers a unique take on old tropes and an atb system that almost offset its few faults. The characters have thin motivations. Each were quickly forgotten until their side quest(1 for each). The few gear you get offer interesting bonuses but are quickly tossed aside for stronger ones. Each character gains abilities that let you customize the way you battle and characters all level together, which is really good for when you need to complete someone's side quest and haven't used them since you got them. It was fun and the hidden boss was a good surprise. If you love old rpgs pick this up.
