great setting but frustrating to play

With a wonderfully bizarre and interestingly weird setting and style, the concept is a masterpiece of game design. The inclusion of live action videos within the game along with the otherworldly soundtrack, occult ideas and odd characters make an atmospheric experience which reels you in, building anticipation to see what will happen next. It’s very heavy on the lore side and there’s a fair bit of backtracking involved, although this just adds of the experience. Unfortunately, it’s more frustrating than fun to play as the combat isn’t anywhere near as good as the world building. The difficulty is very unbalanced, either being too easy or too hard, and it becomes stale after a while, even with the additional powers and number of enemy types. A few poor design choices, like putting the first shop and first defensible power after the first boss, long load times after death, amassing money with nothing meaningful to spend it on, random timed and end game missions popping up with little context or explanation and the overall higher than normal difficulty makes it annoying. It’s also a long game that drags in the middle, mainly due to the above weaknesses. Graphically the colours are a bit washed out and the characters faces don’t look quite right, but everything else looks pretty good. The menus are crisp, the characters and acting are ok and apart from too many effects obscuring the combat, the optical illusions and style of the special effects are brilliant. Foundation is more of the same but in a different setting and because you have better gear, combat becomes a lot more enjoyable. It’s still lore heavy with good amounts of exploration and combat, but some deaths still feel a bit unfair. AWE feels lazily put together with repetitive sections and nothing really new about it, but it is a good way of linking to the next game in the series. The new enemies, mods and tools add to the overall value, but it all feels a bit too little, too late.

Perfect game, Magnificent Story

i didn't play the previous game of Remedy, but this game.. man this is THE BEST. you can create a combat style for on your own. you have a shield, lunch, dodge -of course..- and seize etc. the gun has six modes, i and the most of the players of control tha first gun mode (grip) is the best option for combat. you need hardly never use the other options. the graphics is perfect (even it has a RTX DLSS technology), combat is good, story is perfect.. you should experience it. türkçe yorum isteyenler için: gerçekten iyi oyun, grafikleri, dövüş mekanikleri, hikayesi falan olağanüstü. zaten bedava olarak amazon'dan gog.com kodu ile almıştım. indirimde bile olsa para verilirmiş. muazzam bir oyun. alıp deneyimlemenizi tavsiye ederim.

Not perfect... but still worth it.

This game is really... really hard to rate. Ultimately it was fun but almost every aspect here is two sides of the same coin. Story is absorbing... but the amount of notes scattered everywhere is just too much :/ Graphics is absolutely stunning. All those effects, reflections, shadows and physics is very nice to watch... but sometimes facial animations look weird, and game stutters when you switch your menus. Another weird thing I experienced was with textures. Apparently when I switch them to highest you can witness they won't load properly after some time of playing. On Medium everything seems fine (tested on DX12, Ryzen 5 2400, Gtx 1060 6GB. Haven't seen RT unfortunately) The game worked really nice with some occasional FPS drops (but rarely) I didn't like the weapon system. I think it's totally broken. Switching between two guns in two available slots is pointless because you still have access to all your guns. This system worked in F.E.A.R. for example because you had to make a decision at some point what kind of guns you'll be carrying. Sometimes there's much more 9mm stocked than 5.56mm or shotgun shells and that made perfect sense. In Control you can change weapons in those slots at any time... so why didn't they just make a "Weapon Circle" like in DOOM. It would make players life a lot easier and the gameplay would be much smoother. Another thing was with crafting Weapon Mods which is also pointless because of the amount of mods you get from defeated enemies. There are literally dozens of them (maybe even hundreds) you can get during your playthrough. Too many types of resources was really unnecessary either. But as I mentioned right next to those four stars above, this is still a very good game and it is worth playing. There are two expansions and they are truly decent.

It was worth the wait

Politics and business aside, Control is superb so far (I haven't played it clear through yet). I get elements of Metroidvania-type games, a format I've come to really enjoy. There were honestly moments at first--and without using an RTX card--where I'm not entirely sure whether I'm looking at a live actor/actress or a computer model. The human modeling, and the detailing in general, is outstanding in its class. The cinematic qualities and the surrealism of the story make for an engrossing experience, and the weirdness and tension make for something as viscerally engaging as well-executed horror. But it's not exactly horror; there's a stringent, clinical, even cosmic quality to it. In a word, it's weird. Easy to talk about, tough to accomplish. Think of a Frictional game but with more sci-fi/fantasy leanings rather than occult. As to the gameplay and pacing, this is one where the action begins almost at the start. Like all the action titles from the now-classic Doom to just-released Scorn, this one begins with action and you get the story--such as it is--as you go along. Jesse walks through the front door, surveys the lobby for a moment, and the game begins. We're not here for passive entertainment, and we don't get it. If you want something that offers reward equal to the challenge, Control might be for you.
