Description
Combat Mission Barbarossa to Berlin is the follow up to the ground breaking game Combat Mission Beyond Overlord.  With Barbarossa to Berlin we move to the Eastern Front. Watch as your T34s roll across the steppes of Central Russia or fight your way building to building in the Battle of Stalingrad. It simulates battles on the Eastern Front from German invasion of Russia with Operation Barbarossa in June of 1941 until the final days of the war in Berlin May 1945. Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin allows the player to lead the soldiers of seven nationalities (German, Soviet, Finnish, Hungarian, Romanian, Italian and Polish) into battle, using historical Tables of Equipment and Organization (TO&E), surroundings, and combat results.

Combat is simulated in turns using science and behavioral logic, not “gamey” conventions such as hit points, armor ratings, tables of resolution, or other overly simplistic concepts.  The pioneering “WeGo” gameplay system helps avoid many of the realism problems of other games by requiring both players to submit their orders and having them carried out simultaneously.  The resulting 60 second replayable “movie” can be viewed from any angle and perspective before moving onto the next turn.
Play stand alone battles, connected battles, or “Quick Battles” created on-the-fly.  The full featured Editor allows you to create your own battles.  A large amount of community generated battles and Mods are available for free download.  In addition to the very challenging single player mode, two people can play on one computer, TCP/IP network connection, or via PBEM.

Apply common sense and intuition and don’t expect "gamey" tactics to work - no matter how successful they were in other games. You will be forced to plan ahead, use timing, suppression fire, feints and flanking attacks to survive, let alone to win. When planning your moves, think about what would work in the real world, not what would work in other games.

A Classic

Great game, very immersive and endlessly playable. There is a bug though... when you advance the clock within a battle, the digits become garbled and it does not allow you to advance the time or go back. Can you please fix this bug as it wasn't in the original version?

Combat Mission Working Great Again

I have Windows 10 on my PC and the GOG version of CMBO ran right away without difficulty. If you are on the fence about this version, do not hesitate any further- I am glad I purchased these games from GOG as I can play all the Combat Mission games again like they were new. If you have never played the Combat Series before, do not be put off by the blocky graphics. This has remained my favorite WWII game for 15 years now. The AI is solid and remains decently challenging and the random map generator gives you unlimited new battles to fight. The graphics can also be easily modded (sp?) so you can update that as you wish. This game is well worth your time.

Best WW II Tactical Game out there

Original combat mission stands the test of time. Still great study of WW II tactics. Haven't tried the new Combat mission (Too costly) but it would be the only game that could possibly surpass this. Bummed out the version that I had didn't run well at all on windows 10. GOG has done a great job to get this to run on windows 10. My PC is 8+ years old with windows 10 and GOG version runs fast and smooth, so far no glitches. Bought all 3 combat mission titles. Happy Camper so far.

My all-time favourite game!!!

I own the first 3 combat missions on GOG. As well as the original special editions (Which are better. Please GOG get the Special Editions too!) of all 3 on discs. I also own Combat mission Afghanistan. All are well detailed and fantastic games. But, Barbarossa to Berlin remains not only my favourite game of the series. It might just be my favourite game of all time! And I own thousands of games. I honestly can't think of anything bad to say about this game other than it's a shame that they didn't include the special edition. But, other than the missing scenarios (There's so many anyway that you probably won't even notice.) there isn't much difference. This is a game that is more than worth purchasing at full price just for the quick battle and level editor alone. There's literally thousands of hours of content here. And the historical detail of the units and equipment are superb. It's got a unique battle system that I love and it's great fun to make a whole bunch of "What if?" scenarios and have them play out in real time. I could seriously just talk about how great this game is all day but, I'll save us all the trouble and sum it all up right now. This game is a must play!!!!!! BUY IT!!!! You won't regret it!!!!
