After tracking a Soviet landing force bound for Iceland it is time to plan your attack. Do you silently close in to torpedo the landing ships and escape during the resulting chaos? Or strike with long-range missiles but risk counterattack from the enemy escorts? Have you detected them all, could another submarine be out there listening for you? Has the hunter become the hunted? Will you survive the Cold Waters?
Inspired by the 1988 classic “Red Storm Rising”, command a nuclear submarine in a desperate attempt to prevent “mutually assured destruction” when the Cold War gets hot and WWIII begins.
You will be tasked with intercepting convoys, amphibious landings, insertion missions and battling it out with enemy warships, submarines and aircraft. Thankfully, an arsenal of wire-guided torpedoes, anti-ship and cruise missiles and the occasional SEAL team are on board to keep the Iron Curtain at bay.

Real-time naval combat
Over 40 classes of ships and submarines all meticulously researched

Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
Cant even start the training. The buttons don't line up with the mouse, managed to get to the Accept screen after randomly clicking around the screen, but can't click accept. Literally bought this and can not play.
Very lacking both in quality and play balance. This is NOT your 688 or silent wolves. This is a POOR mans sub sim for a premium price. DO not pay for this at the current price. It is simply not worth it. Pick up Atlantic fleet, at least until this goes below 20 bucks OR they add the possibility of playing as the Russians.
By looking at the media gallery, I was expecting something like Warship Gunner series at first; go around with all sorts of ships. Only after playing the first tutorial, I realised its a sub sim with some hardcore elements. I do like hardcore which is cool when you have learned how the game works. however, the learning curve is, well, not as pro as vim, but quite steep. For example, if you are not familiar with naval weapons and terminology, you might end up like me to constantly switch between browser and the game to find the whats inside the tubes.
The background story is not important for your mission, your only target is to destroy some ships or subs. Destruction is fun, but not when have all the counter measurements or stay still like a rock to wait for something to happen. It is an intervactive game not a deep blue poster on the wall, some more engagment form the enemy and envirnoment please. If reality is what you looking for, silent hunter series is the way to go.
Pros : Pretty graphics
This rather small game takes very little space on the HD but it barely runs on my PC. In the radar screen clicking on objects will position the camera view on that object but getting the camera view back on your own sub does not work half the time so your sub is not visible to the player. This leads to enemies locating you or crashes. The game is lousey. Spending 40 bucks on it is ignorant of the consumer while lucrative for the developer. My 40 bucks was wasted and this is not the first time that has occured on this site. My review is also used to say I will not be using GOG again for game downloads unless they can win my trust back
Cold Waters started freezing over & over even in the menu at start with a windows popup asking me if I wanted to stop the program from running cause it wasn't responding.
I finally got the tutorial going but it was pure torture with constant freezing and hotkeys don't work.
I have new 2019 games on Steam that all work fine with no freezing or crashes so this is weird cause my computer is good.
GOG doesn't give refunds like on Steam so I lost my money on a bad game. I learned the hard way to stick to only buying games on Steam and avoid small indie games like this that have a high chance of not working.
