A Quick and Fast Adventure!

Having completed both stories, I think that this game is a real treat for those who like short replayable experiences. Even with both stories together, I think the entire game took me less than 3 hours to complete. There are a couple of modes that may interest those looking for a more intense experience, however. While both characters share several levels, they also have unique movesets that make even those feel different. Axel is insanely fast and really showcases the game's platforming well. Levels feel like a racetrack! Hazel on the other hand has a greater focus on combat, and while she does have some powerful traversal tools, it does feel somewhat clunkier to speed through a level as her. In regards to boss fights, Axel feels much stronger than Hazel due to his ability to dodge and attack at such high speeds, but I felt Hazel was much more enjoyable in this aspect. Her slower pace and combat options allowed me to really appreciate the boss' moveset much more, and I felt much more satisfied overcoming challanges as her. The story was rather enjoyable, despite being so short. The cast felt charming, and the plot has some depth to it, an accomplishment given that it is so brief. I hope to see more of these characters in the future, which brings me to my final point. If there was something I had to complain about, it is the fact that I would have liked more! Enemy variety is servicable given the length of the story, but I think a few more enemy types would have been interesting. A few more levels in general would have been appreciated as well, given that the story seems to be marching towards its finale only about a half hour into it. Still, this experience is tight and well designed, so perhaps these suggestions would only serve to ultimately dilute the experience rather than enchance it. Overall, a great game, especially at this price point!
