Normally I go for more 3D action AAA titles, but this little indie gem sucked me into its complex, well thought-out, dystopian world. There are a few side-quests that provide some variation, and interesting characters along the way. Resource management isn't difficult and although, yes, you have to follow a specified path to reach the end, there is a certain appeal to flying your hover-ship through the rain-drenched city, scrounging artefacts and picking up clues. I didn't find the voice acting as bad as some people say -- if anything it was nicely understated. I've picked up the sequel and I'm having fun going through that. It makes a break when I get stressed out by Tiny Tina.

Beatifully Crafted Indie Cyberpunk Game
Cloudpunk is a beautifully crafted creation from ION LANDS.
The game has interesting characters and a wonderfully dystopian atmosphere.
Rania is one of my favourite video-game characters within the indie game scene.
They are candid, captivating, and refreshingly honest about the situation they're in.
Albeit a bit confused on what to do with themselves in a city such as Nivalis. Rightfully so.
The controls can be a bit confusing at times.
And the game does contain weird glitches in some areas.
But I believe this game is worth experiencing, especially after a long day of work.
I have played through the game numerous times on Steam, and I am soon going to purchase it on GOG.
The voxel art style is to die for, and the soundtrack is masterful.
Ive played through this on steam, both main game and dlc, collected everything that could be obessively collected etc - and frankly i questioned why i even indeed bothered. Granted the atheistics appear cool, the premise appears cool ...but once you start playing the game more, nvm collecting the collectibles (just avoid), there is incredible amount of repetitive tedium. While some sights do look cool in the sort of mincraft cyberpunk style....typically they are kinda meh. Very few of the places in the game made me really stop and look around.
I suppose what ultimate kept me playing the game was just to see through how woke the game writing actually is. and for those in the know, its damn woke both overtly and covertly - ill admit sometimes the messaging was pretty smooth (, but sometimes over the top on the nose ...and i prefer my games not have such political messaging - but ill politics at this - just good to keep in mind that this game has such content in case its of matter to the buyer.
Purely gameplaywise the movement is too slow, the city traffic just goes flying the same circles as if the player didnt exist at all, the game has plenty of sellers ...that have very little to sell etc..
Id love to have Bladerunner style Cyberpunk taxi game, but unfortunately this is a miss, its not proper walking game - but nor is it open world game with lots of interesting content or activities to do.
My gameplay advice for the devs would be to choose either whether to make this more focused and better based walking game (which i love) or go to the other direction and have more activities and reason to really fly/walk around the open sandbox. Atm the game has lots of nothing in it unfortunately.
For anyone who really wants to play this game, id recommend to play it by only focusing on the story missions, avoid all collectibles and you just might have a better experience than i had trying to scour the box something that was not in it anyway.
I guess it's the year to make cyberpunk games with:
1) HD backdrop
2) voxel characters
3) female protagonist
4) no plotline
Because this is the third one in a row I've run across. Are these the Unity cash-grab games I'm reading about? Because geez, way to water down the quality, GoG.
I bought Cloudpunk: Ultimate Edition twice.
Once on Steam and now on GoG. This game seems to run smoother on GoG.
I give it 10 stars for the atmosphere and for the music of the game, but I will deduct 5 stars for the main character who has serious flaws in how she treats people.
She thinks that she is tolerant, but she mocks the believers and treats the others like fools, especially the men. She doesn't even know what sex she is. The "gender" word keep it for your politics.
I don't write politics here. I write only the truth about only one character.
In the game is not the future, but is the present of our days and the future looks worse.
