Narrative twin stick shooter

Clid the snail and other rejects from their respective species become mercenaries who offer their services to various animal citadels. The slug invasion provides a mix of combat, exploration and boss battles. The various weapons and abilities offer ample ways to play, and the economy is very generous. Each area is unique and doesn't outstay its welcome. The game is always creative and original throughout, but a few niggles limited my enjoyment at times. Some dialogues only allow skipping the whole discussion instead of single lines, so you have to wait for a silence to die or too much "animal gibberish" sounds to elapse before the next line can play. It doesn't take 5 seconds to read "Um, what?" Other than that, the visual design is excellent, mixing organic levels with a few "human-sized" objects for scale, but the technical aspect is a definite flaw. The game is incredibly hazy and bloomy, with some use of chromatic aberration, and that seriously detracts from the art and the general visibility. I could see this concept expanded for a sequel, for a much bigger game with greater visual fidelity. + Solid story and gameplay arc + Original setting and characters + Little nod to Gods of Riverworld + Ultrawide support - Messy visuals - Verbose

End of the World with a Snail Mercenary

Clid the Snail is a twin-stick shooter with interesting characters and an original story. The game doesn't have manual save, only autosave. You have 5 areas, which are the main levels, and at the end of every level you will defeat a boss. Beside shooting, you will have some platforming to do, and if you fail (hit by lasers, traps, etc), you will die and you will be reset to the last autosave. If you fall from a cliff, you will lose a life. You start with 5 lives, and you can upgrade it by collecting seed for 10 lives + 1 additional life that can be bought from a character in the game. The games also provide you with simple puzzles in order to open doors or collect something. You have 4 shells with different abilities (fly, launch rockets, create a wall of ice, or create a protective barrier). In order to create a new shell, you need resin from a specific tree. The shells cannot be changed on the go because there is no inventory, but before every boss fight, you can change them at the vendor. You have gadgets (grenades, mines, turrets, med-kits) and various weapons (4 received before game missions and 3 that can be bought). The characters are enjoyable and unique, the story is nice, and the world is great. This game has two problems: the colors are dim and muddy, and the length of the game is under 7 hours. I finished the game in 4 hours and 40 minutes doing all missions, collecting everything, and talking with every character before and after missions to learn more about them and the world. After you finish the game, your save will be deleted automatically, so you need to get all achievements in one run (only one missable achievement in the desert, where you need to talk with all the characters before starting the mission in order to not miss the achievement). I really liked the game, and I can recommend it to everyone who loves twin-stick shooters. I hope that a sequel will be made because the ending was open.  8/10 for me, buy it at discount.

Hidden gem

I entered this game expecting a twin stick shooter with some action and a basic story, however, I found a little hidden gem with great characters, a nice narrative with a couple of twist and a surprisingly fleshed out world for a 7-8 hour game. May sound a little bit short, but the story is worth it and the levels and puzzles varied enough to entertain each minute of gameplay, never overstaying its welcome. If complete price sounds too steep for you, it goes on sale for dirty cheap very often, I, for one, am waiting for the next game this studio can offer.

Good little game

It's a good game, entertaining and worth the money for a studio just beginning their history. Can be better but it's not bad at all

A little game, with a great heart

Clid the Snail is a narrative twin stick shooter set in a rather interesting world. I really liked the setting and the characters! But the game is sadly hold back by its briefness. I'd really like to know more about the world and mysteries that surround Clid but the game falls short on this end, coming to an excellent and surprising but otherwise quite rushed end. Moreover, boss fights are unfortunately repetitive and quite redundant. Graphics, narrative and in-game enyclopedias, galleries and OST player make this short game really worth palying though! I really hope they will bring a sequel about Itako sooner or later!
