Narrative twin stick shooter
Clid the snail and other rejects from their respective species become mercenaries who offer their services to various animal citadels. The slug invasion provides a mix of combat, exploration and boss battles. The various weapons and abilities offer ample ways to play, and the economy is very generous. Each area is unique and doesn't outstay its welcome. The game is always creative and original throughout, but a few niggles limited my enjoyment at times. Some dialogues only allow skipping the whole discussion instead of single lines, so you have to wait for a silence to die or too much "animal gibberish" sounds to elapse before the next line can play. It doesn't take 5 seconds to read "Um, what?" Other than that, the visual design is excellent, mixing organic levels with a few "human-sized" objects for scale, but the technical aspect is a definite flaw. The game is incredibly hazy and bloomy, with some use of chromatic aberration, and that seriously detracts from the art and the general visibility. I could see this concept expanded for a sequel, for a much bigger game with greater visual fidelity. + Solid story and gameplay arc + Original setting and characters + Little nod to Gods of Riverworld + Ultrawide support - Messy visuals - Verbose
