Don't get your hopes up...

this is no Machinarium, Botanicula or Samorost 3. If you go into Chuchel expecting a grand adventure with an interesting world built around it, prepare to disappointed. In Chuchel you help the titular hero chase the thiefs that stole his cherry. You chase them from screen to screen with every screen providing a puzzle that you have to solve to progress to the next one and so on. But where the bigger Amanita games provide a world that you can really dive into and explore, Chuchel is really just a collection of puzzles and minigames that are not too hard either. There is no chance you sit for hours in front of the screen, figuring out what to do. Just a few clicks on the objects or creatures on screen is enough to get to the solutions, even if you don't know what your doing. Why give it 4 Stars then ? Well, Chuchel is, even if it is not the most challenging and best, still an Amanita Design game. And that means beautiful art, colorful characters and fantastic creature design. And even if it is to easy for the majority of adults , the game is fun. It just makes you laugh when the hero interacts with these nice designed "monsters" or when he finally catches the cherry just so it gets taken away from him seconds later. The game is just a joy to play and experience and kids will love Amanitas new hero. But hardcore Adventure Game Fans should not expect a challenging game with an engaging story. And with a pricetag of 9,99 on release "Chuchel" was probably never meant to be the next Machinarium anyways. Buy it, play it with your young ones, laugh, have a great time and be happy that you didn't waste your ten bucks on some stupid Lootbox or DLC.

Black Chuchels Matter.

Having a black Chuchel is not racist. This is just a video game. It is a pretend world. Chuchel is not a human. None of this is real! But the insane Twitterflakes go off their rocker... and so you pander to them by removing the only black Chuchel in the game and then replace him with the Donald Trump of Chuchels. Smooth move, Exlax. Why not just have a feature where you can pick the appearance (color/headwear/gender/blah-blah-blah) of choice for your Chuchel? Or better yet, why not just bring back the black Chuchel we all know and love.

Fun game, but where is original chuchel?

My children love this short funny game. Changing the color of CHUCHEL greatly upset them, so they are still playing to the original version (available in steam).

Cute, boring wasted time

Although the game appears nice and fun at first contact, it quickly turns out to be simplistic and boring. The puzzles are hardly ever true logic challenges; in most cases they are just random clicking and checking the provided hint to eventually solve it. So the whole gameplay boils down to the vicious cycle: 1. Try to solve the puzzle and fail; 2. read the hint; 3. solve the puzzle; 4. repeat. Chuchel is not worth buying even on high discount sale. If you got it for free, then you can try to play once, but don't expect anything special. Better don't waist time on this title; most probably you will abandon it in the middle of the gameplay anyway.

Not worth the deluxe edition

I actually bought the game for my three-year-old son, as based on reviews it seemed like it would be easy enough for him to play on his own, with minimal input from me. For the most part, that was true, though towards the end game he did have trouble getting the sequence and timing right (yeah, there's one puzzle where timing affects the solution). He found many of the sequences funny, although he was scared of the grim reapers at one point in the game. Now, for the adult's review. Being as I dislike point and click adventures, Chuchel gets a couple stars simply for the fact that it was interesting enough for me to finish the game. It is, as the screenshots evidence, quite a beautiful game to look at, with very fantastic settings and creatures. Gameplay-wise, there's a maximum of 3 hours (closer to 2), so if you're looking for something longer or more in-depth then avoid this. The music is interesting as part of the game, but not something I'd like to play on my own while reading or whatever. Given that, and the art book, honestly, I'd say it's not worth buying the Cherry Edition.
