There are unfortunately not many games that little children can play especially children that not already possess the english language.
Chuchel is maybe too simple for the experienced adventure gamer but it's tons of fun for my 6 year old that only starts his gaming career.
Playing this together with him and watching his excitement was a great experience. Thank you Amanita.
It is hard to tell whether Chuchel is actually a game or not. But it is easy to know if it is worth experiencing. It breaks all kinds of rules, expectations, and gaming cliches. From the start until the end it managed to surprise me with the next move or laugh at the silly craziness that it showed. It is like a trip but without the drugs (although you get to lick a tripping mushroom too). All this also supported by the superb music of DVA. If you are looking for a challenging puzzler or a deep story-driven adventure, look elsewhere. If you are looking for something that completely blows your mind and that shouts "just have some fun", you are in the right place.
Oh and the silly colour controversy? I like Chuchel in orange more, it emphasises its joyfulness.
My kids totally adore this game. We must have played it together 50 times already.
But it doesn't mean it's not for adults! However, you need to be special kind of adult. If you think you didn't lose your ability to put your inherent seriousness aside then go for it. You will be rewarded with the brilliant talent and originally that went into every scene, music piece and sound effect, and the overall good feeling Chuchel radiates every second it's on.
This game is being received very different depending on what people expect from it. If you expect "more of the same", as in more awesome Amanita classic game structure with a story like machinarium, you might feel disappointment while playing Chuchel. I am not sure why you should though, since Chuchel is amazing fun to.....lets say experience, right?
You explore the World of Chuchel through his adventures. It is not a standard - click here, go there - adventure though. This is more like a masterclass on curiosity and reward in game design. I understand that some people are not enjoying that, but I personally had a "no precise expectation" look at the game for about 1 hour and was basically unable to drink sth or speak a full sentence since the game had me laughing so much. The hilarity and pure silly fun of this is amazing! I can recommend to anyone who has no high expectations to this NEEDING to be a point and click adventure. It is more a "click and enjoy adventure". So, if that is seomthing you would like to do, click on buy and see what you experience. it might just be joy. Better see for yourself though!
