Description
Behold the Nile! There, on the shores, shall arise your kingdom, your dynasty, and your future. As Pharaoh, you’ll guide your people from a simple tribe of hunter-gatherers to the pinnacle of an immortal civilization. Lead your people wisely and they will erect magnificent pyramids, explore the ancient world, and fight wars in your name. Every inhabitant of your city is a living, breathing person with their own needs, wants, and desires. From priests to entertainers, scribes to laborers, and even the royal family--everyone needs to eat and that’s just the start.
Children of the Nile Complete is a brilliantly shining gem of a city-building game, in both scope and attention to detail. To achieve immortality, a Pharaoh must look beyond his own city’s borders and make his mark on the world. Explore and establish trade with foreign nations and you will have the motivation to build commemorative wonders that will proclaim the strength and power of your dynasty throughout history. As your prestige rises so too will your ability to attract more people to take part in your ambitious endeavors and build cities that are truly awe-inspiring. How will YOUR dynasty be remembered?
Children of the Nile Complete--for the most comprehensive city-building and management an armchair Pharaoh can get!
Includes Children of the Nile Enhanced Edition and the add-on Children of the Nile: Alexandria
Watch your people go about their daily lives; make the right decisions and help them, and society, move forward.
The fate of civilization is in your hands - you must balance your own ambition with your people's needs. The monuments you ask them to build are a testament to the prestige you have among your people.

Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
This game is impossible to play as every single menu other than the startup is in an unreadable tiny blurry font. This is clearly a resolution UI issue due to the game not being compatible with windows 10. There was a patch available online that apparently fixed this issue but it is no longer publicly available. I would seek out a refund but with how cheap it cost I honestly don't care.
I like city builders and management games, so I bought this one recently.
Pros:
As listed before. Funny details (like the apes at the weaponary).
Cons:
As mentioned before:
Crashes, bugs (e. g. a mine that no worker will work on, no matter what).
This night-darkness. It's so tiring for the eyes, many long minutes of diffuse redish-brownness. One star down for that!
Citizens, not seeing the things right in front of their eyes. I always liked control mechanisms like influence radii. :-) Here, say, a priest, may wander around and never get to the hospital right next to his home. Or just every other year or so.
The game's reprodution model is still a puzzle to me. Everything is flourishing, and suddenly the educated die one after another of natural causes, and not a single child of all these noble families old enough to go to school and fill their place. So my scholars decreased from 17 to 6 in two years. It took 3 years to have 2 new pupils and a lot of prestige projects to keep the other citizens in a good enough mood not to leave.
Immigration? - Unhappy /retired citizens leave the city. There is trade, there is war. A lot of border traffic. Why no immigration of workers and scholars (as far as I can tell)?
So it feels like kind of a survivalist game to me, with the limited amount of new people, the arbitrary illnesses. Only difference: people here don't always act in their own interest. They are like real people. ;-) Unpredictable, taking the long way, making stupid decisions, taking others down in their own downfall, getting stuck sometimes.
This, of course, could also be a Pro. It makes the gameplay interesting/challenging, as szenarios can become a bit repetitive.
It's a nice enough game to spend some hours.
No really, I don't know what to say. Is the game bad? No, it's not. It's just so freaking slow....
I mean it - One hour of playing the first mission in the campaign, and I am bored to death.
And trust me, I played a lot of City Sims.
The option to speed this up would be nice. Without one, the slow pace kills any enjoyment from playing this game.
