Carmageddon TDR 2000

Got it for free, it doesn't work. Sad times.

Honestly I still play Carmageddon 1 on my phone and enjoy it, TDR 2000 was horrible even back in the day and we abandoned it after a couple of hours. Somehow I have this in my gog library and I decided to give it another try, maybe it was not meant for the 15 years old me back in the day (unlikely, I loved the first 2 entries). Nuh the games is terrible in every aspect and it is not about how it aged, it was terrible, it still is terrible, nothing to see here. Go play the first 2 if you are in for the nostalgia ride.

i grew up playing the second game. and i was about 10 or so, when i picked it up. when i picked up tdr as a physical copy around 15 or so of age, i was very disappointed cuz when i reached i think it was the 4'th or 5'th stage, the game would crash. at the time, i didnt manage to fix the problem, which wasnt mine to fix tbh. anyway, years later, i was stupid enough to buy it on steam, ad same thing was a problem. my stubbornness made me search for and fix the problem. now my new disappointment was to appear. once you get through the first fun stage, which i admit it is. then the tracks become the most boring lazy designed. its really quite amazing how little the other tracks suck. so, know this, if you buy it, buy it because you wanna play the hell out of the first track. cuz the rest suck hard.

The two biggest issues are poor car handling and an overly strict timer. TDR2000 is the only game in the series that favors straight forward racing, while punishing exploration and combat.

All of the things which made Carmageddon 1 and 2 special are missing here. The physics are all wrong for both the driving and damage/collisions, the quirky humour is gone, and graphics and level design feel amateurish. Don't waste your time; this game doesn't offer anything that hasn't already been done better in the earlier installments.
