i prefer carma 2 over carma 1 :)
its finally here :D
this release works flawless on modern machines :)
if you want to change the resolution of the game just start nglide_config in the carma folder ;)
I played this game every day in my teens and still love it. I also did mods for them, there are tons of great addon cars etc. out there. The great crash physics come even more to life with detailed addon cars. You can also change the race settings txt to drive with up to 20 opponents, which is total mayhem. In short, this and Carma 1 are my favorite games ever, can't really pick one. Gameplay-wise this one is better, but I prefer the setting and atmosphere of part 1.
The unparalleled king of Carmageddon and one of the best vehicular combat games to date. Incredible amount of cars, ranging from normal racing cars through a giant bulldozer or a jet powered bus to a WW 2 plane which you just drive around on ground or a vehicle that doesn't even fit through checkpoint gates. This game has it all. Non-stop fun on sandbox-like maps where you can fool around to your heart's content. Jumping on rooftops and finding rare and powerful power-ups, running over hundreds of pedestrians (or annihilating them with the multitude of anti-ped weapons) or just straight up brawling with the AI opponents, all of it is simply fun. Add in an occasional, objective based mission to break up the monotony and you got a winner.
It also has an incredibly good damage system that feels fair and consistent both for the player and the AI. My only advice would be to avoid upgrades (armor, power and offense) as much as possible as it eventually makes the game way too easy and they just suck the fun out of it.
A very easy 10/10.
Growing up I got my hands on the first Carmageddon and thoroughly enjoyed it, it was fun and off the wall with a sense of humor that really related to me growing up. The one thing that I never fully grasped in the first game however was the driving mechanics and I never really liked the black fog that reduced distance of view. The second in the series fixes these problems by adding a larger world to play around in that really feels like it lets you do whatever you want. You'll get by the block shaped characters, even when the game was released it was very jarring at first but the style of the game is that of comedy and the more you play it the more enjoyable it seems to be. When I saw one of the in game women get down on her knees to pray because I was parked in front of her I thought, holy shit this game thought of everything!
This game reminds me of sitting around my PC with a friend playing hot seat on a cold winter day and laughing at all of the stupid and crazy stuff we were able to accomplish by driving around like a maniac, riding a log ride in the theme park level, crashing through buildings like a stuntman or trying to waste all of the drivers before they finished the race.
Well worth the purchase price and although I own a disk based copy I'm tempted to re-purchase again just to support the fact that this game really does need to be on here with the rest of gaming history.
Finally! Carmageddon 2 is here.
You *could* race around and pass the checkpoints. You'd get time extensions and score points. But wouldn't it be more fun to ruin every other car instead? That's no problem in these very open, sandbox-type courses.
There are a tonne of different power-ups (and power-downs) for your car that will help you achieve whatever goals you've set for yourself. The name of this game is destruction, with many funny ways to murder pedestrians. My personal favourite is the car spring, which flings people far, far away from you.
You can also drive other cars. Or a plane. Yeah, that's a thing. The humour touches all aspects of the game.
Lastly, the physics of car destruction make this so enjoyable to play. Your car will crumple; you can have a bumper bar hanging off the back, dragging along as you drive.
This is an instant purchase for anyone who enjoyed the game originally, and a high recommendation for anyone who:
• likes to explore
• loves a bit (or a lot) of reckless destruction
• enjoys winning challenges.
